Opinion, from first hand sources: Joe Rogan was recruited as one facet of Eric and Brett Weinstein's "Intellectual Dark Web" project with an intention of fueling chaos and upending the media landscape. One of many such ops. Shapiro, Weiss, etc... Just don't take the bait.

This is Thiel's network. This was setup years ago. The first thing recruits are asked to do when joining this effort is to start micro-dosing LSD. The intent is to stretch imagination and perception to create leverage over conventional cultural frames.

And I'll just add: this isn't new information recently revealed to me. I've known about this network and its efforts for around 5 years. It's just come much more onto the public radar so now is a good time to give it more sunlight.

And don't forget Peterson and Musk. All part of the mix.

In 2020 Brett Weinstein created a project called Unity2020 that was designed to peel people off from the left; they endorsed Tulsi Gabbard, Dan Crenshaw, Jesse Ventura, and Andrew Yang, among others.

Worth noting that Spotify, who is enabling and defending Rogan, raised significant funds from Russian investor Yuri Milner. He's invested in several (problematic) companies in SV, though.
