An eight-kilometer-wide asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter has been named after a Filipino neurosurgeon and astronomer.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Jose Francisco "Jett" Aguilar says that he is an amateur astronomer since 2003. He is also the vice president of the Astronomical League of the Philippines.

Dr. Jett Aguilar: Equipment are cheaper now. Join amateur groups that's available in social media. The sky is free so you can look at it anytime and work at the same time. It's a good hobby and affordable.
