The media and the scientific community disregarded data to amplify hospitalizations and deaths for a noble purpose: to get people to take the pandemic seriously so fewer people would die. It didn't matter if the numbers were juked as long as it promoted the narrative.
The only problem with that is that the lie became recursive. People were getting, and still are, canceled for stating facts -- for actually caring about the truth. The lie grew legs and became its own monster that needed to be fed. Cottage industries sprang up around it.
Testing people left and right for a mostly mild variant is a lucrative, billion-dollar industry that benefits not only big pharma companies but also the cottage industry around it -- PPE makers, genetic testing companies with sweetheart contracts with governments, PR companies.
Once again, it was done with noble intent. The numbers are juked, rigged to look bigger than they actually are -- but that's okay. It gets people to "take things seriously." The fear is that downplaying the numbers would inadvertently cause people to downplay the pandemic.
The issue with all this, for them, is that the security theater is entirely discredited thanks to Joe Rogan. Some are trying to pivot, claiming they never supported restrictions -- or actually coming clean and scaling things back. Others like Trudeau are doubling down on the lie.
It's social engineering on a massive scale. Nudging people in the "optimal" direction. Problem is, people who were already teetering on the brink got nudged off that cliff -- militant hypochondriacs who, for the rest of their lives, will scold other people for not wearing masks.
