My unneeded cosplay hot take is that it's an expensive hobby. It's only wealthy people who are able to have high quality fabrics, crafting materials and machines.

1. Big names who offer tutorials need to understand that money is an issue for many people. I don't understand y'all talking down on cosplayers who are not wealthy for saying it's not affordable to have certain high end machines. It's just a fact?
2. Cosplaying on a budget is completely fine. Reuse materials, thrift and alter clothes. Use cardboard instead of worbla. If you can make it work, make it work! Don't feel pressured to keep up with folks because of your budget
3. Cosplay is not the hobby for you if you do not have the income for it. It got too expensive for me to push out even 4 new cosplays a year. So now I'm going with the flow and also rewearing a lot of my old stuff! I want my cosplays to last long if I worked hard on them.
4. Cosplay is becoming something akin to fast fashion. Many people are trying to keep up with trends, cosplay from a new show in under a week, make things as fast as possible. A lot of $$$$ going into this stuff. Only to throw away or sell the costume a month later
Unless you have the extra income, or your job is being a costume designer or seamstress / crafter, this is a LOT of money to be spending on costumes. So if someone wants to see how they can spend the least amount of money on something, it's completely fine. The world can wait.
