[220210] Akdong Seoul radio w/ DJ #KUN 🐻 Chinese to English Translation Highlights 🎙translation thread🎙 #KUNONAIR #AkdongSeoul #KunD #DJKun #钱锟 #쿤
~opening~
🐻: after 9pm is the golden hour to order late night snacks. I’m sure a lot of listeners are snacking while listening to our radio - send in messages to share what your favorite late night snacks are with us!
🐻: Do you remember we often talk about food with guozhen? Today we can freely talk about food the whole broadcast! Look forward to the program~
🐻: I think I eat luosifen the most for a late night snack. Lately I’ve been really liking eating bingsoo while I’m watching a movie
🐻: although late night snacks are tasty, we should eat in moderation to stay healthy!
One listener said ofc hot pot even though it was freezing they still want to go out bc of food and Kun said he was like that too while in school
Another listener said something along the lines of they’re full just looking at Kun
(t/n: message itself was in korean so idk the full context, but kun summarized the above in mandarin)
~Today’s TMI~
OP is starting school on Friday and said their feelings are quite complicated - they’re excited and anxious at the same time
🐻: of course! Everyone must have these feelings right before starting school/new term.I had the same feelings too+
+ I’ll usually set goals for myself (like perfecting my handwriting) which…I didn’t always meet lol (t/n: in elementary school)

🐻: *after introducing next song* i want to get onto the rest of the program quickly to talk about food, which is why I’m reading quickly right now!
~Late Night Snacks with Liuchen~
🐻: We’ve invited a food expert today, Liuchen! I’ve heard PD jiejie say many times that Liuchen ge’s cooking is really good
🧑🏻‍🍳: haha I’m not an expert - just a foodie!
They talked about how a lot of dishes from back home you can’t find in korea or it’s just not the same, so you have to depend on yourself to make them. Kun asked him about the LNY break and liuchen said since he couldn’t go home he cooked the new year dinner for himself +
🐻: a FULL table of food??
🧑🏻‍🍳: it was a small table lol
🐻: do you like having late night snacks?
🧑🏻‍🍳: tbh it became one of my regular meals back then
🐻: haha me too because of my night life routine (t/n: bc kun is a night owl so it’s just regular hrs for him)
5th place: 豆皮涮牛肚 (beef tripe with tofu skin)
It’s a famous dish in Xi’an along with liangpi (t/n: omg I love liangpi…now I’m craving it) and will typically dip in sauce
🐻: oooh i really like eating beef tripe
🧑🏻‍🍳: everyone should try if u get the chance to go to Xi’an!
🐻: i really like eating liangpi too! What else can you eat it (beef tripe tofu skin) with?
🧑🏻‍🍳: u and eat with enoki mushrooms and rice too! It’s soooo good I’M HUNGRY. The ingredients can be found here in South Korea, although it’s not totally the same bc of the sauces/spices
🐻: *claps* I’m so happy~ this is the first time we’re talking about food for the whole broadcast - usually I have to stick it in conversations wherever I can, but it’s the main topic today! :D
4th place: spicy chicken feet (辣雞爪)
Liuchen said he used to prefer the ones w/ bones, but now that he’s getting older he prefers the ones w/o because it’s more convenient. Kun said he enjoys the ones with bones in soup
🐻: I have so many coupons at home LOL every time I order it they give me one, so I think I can probably be able to use them on a free bowl by now haha
🐻: there’s also a rly popular flavor these days called buldak “fire” just thinking about it is making me sweat bc it’s so spicy
🐻: I feel like a lot of listeners tuning in to this program might not be able to resist ordering late night snacks haha
🐻: I heard your cooking is rly good!
🧑🏻‍🍳: tbh it’s to make myself happy - ur likely to fail when u don’t cook often, but when u do succeed it’s so fulfilling
🐻: me too - at first it was also because I wanted to eat it myself, so I learned from Chef Wang Gang

3rd place: kabobs (串串香)
Liuchen said back home he often went to get these and there are a lot of places selling these days
🐻: I ate these with my friends back then too! +
🐻: wah~ sitting by the side of the road eating was so nice
They talked about how there’s a huge variety of things you can put on kabobs from meat to veggies to tofu etc.
🐻: when I was little I loved eating bbq from street food stands+
🐻: I’m from Fujian, so we had a Shaxian snacks stall right by my house and I’d eat wontons, noodles, soup. After evening study classes, I’d often go with my friends to get some food 😋
🧑🏻‍🍳: I’m drooling~
2nd place: fried chicken
🧑🏻‍🍳: how could we possibly talk about late night snacks without mentioning fried chicken?
🐻: I’m sure there are listeners eating fried chicken while listening to our program right now haha
🧑🏻‍🍳: KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN IS SO GOOD 🍗
Liuchen rly likes the original flavor, original hot-crispy
🐻: I’m scared to eat spicy fried chicken because I feel like I’ll feel especially (t/n: idk the word for 上火 but it’s like ur stomach feels inflamed? Happens when u eat rly spicy or lots of fried things)
🐻: I only order wings and drumsticks haha. There are also a lot of different sauces! Another way is to just order the original flavor and more sauces on the side
🧑🏻‍🍳: hahah the fried chicken shop owner won’t be too happy about that 😂
🐻: one order of fried chicken is usually like a whole chicken and will have tons of leftovers if it’s only one person eating - any suggestions on other dishes you can use them in?
🧑🏻‍🍳: I’ll eat the wings and drumsticks first like KunD (t/n: kun said ‘eat’ not ‘order’ earlier sry)
🧑🏻‍🍳: then if I can’t finish the rest like the chicken breast, I’ll break it down into pieces and throw them in a salad!
🐻: salad? Wah~ this is the first time I’m hearing of using it like this. As expected from a food expert!
Kun said the best lamb kabobs he ever had was in Xi’an.
🐻: After graduating from middle school, I went traveling with my friends to Xi’an and when we went out for late night snacks we ordered 100+ kabobs. It looked really impressive so I took a photo haha
Sry I missed the header earlier - liuchen’s 1st place late night snack

1st place: lamb kabobs
They also talked about other popular late night snacks like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fish cakes, and rabokki (ramen + tteokbokki)

🐻: Thank you liuchen ge for coming today~ I was really happy talking about food today - hope there are more programs like this!
🧑🏻‍🍳: me too~
🐻: you worked hard today~ see you next time bye bye!
Reading listener messages - someone mentioned Taiwanese fried chicken with sarsaparilla drink
🐻: ohh when I was in Taipei I really liked eating this too they fried it with basil and it was so fragrant + also drank 黑松沙士!
Another listener said fries are the best late night snack in the world and they never get tired of it
🐻: ahh that’s right - although french fries are not my favorite, I’ve been liking sweet potato (goguma) fries lately! Those are pretty good~
🐻: I was really so happy talking about food with everyone today~ Lastly, we’ll play a song I recommend, which is The Weekend’s “Call Out My Name”. See you tomorrow~ bye bye!

~broadcast end~

~opening~
Kun talked about an iconic phrase that’s basically about how the world out there is so vast. Kun also said he hopes everyone can have a wider worldview!
🐻: letting go of your prejudices is calming and also a kind of growth in itself. During self growth, you must be brave in trial and error, but more importantly, you must maintain your self-confidence.
(T/N: again, general advice in the script. Pls do not read into it thx)
