These maps show the daily odds of receiving heavy rain.
Red (🔴) is where our modelling predicts a high chance of more than 50 mm of rain.
Some locations will see more than a month's worth of rain in just a few days. This obviously raises flooding concerns.

The pink & purple is where the heaviest rain is predicted; mainly western & lower parts of the North Island.
Impacts include:
-Slips
-Flooding
-Washed out roads
Need to watch eastern top of the South Island, too.

Our water model shows how rivers and streams will respond to the heavy rain.
Where you see the purple (🟣) colouring is where flows are forecast to be extremely high, and are areas where river flooding may occur.

Low pressure is like a hole in the atmosphere. Winds will be highest close to & around the centre of the low.
Presently, our modelling indicates 100+ km/h gusts for areas in red (🔴) on Sunday.
Impacts include:
-power cuts
-vegetation & structural damage

Western & southern parts of the North Island will likely see the largest waves.
Our wave model is forecasting 7-10 metre waves (offshore!) this weekend.
This may cause beach erosion.
