This week #ExtinctionRebellion Clare and @FutureproofC vigilantly attempted a Citizen’s Arrest on Minister Eamon Ryan for charges of ecocide and crimes against humanity.

The following crimes are being perpetrated under @EamonRyan’s watch as Minister for Environment, Climate and Communication:

1. Granting licences for mining and prospecting, and approving new legislation giving increased rights to mining companies.

2. Allowing #AughinishAluminia to continue threatening life with toxic waste by not insisting on proper waste management.

3. Permitting the development of an excessive number of energy-depleting #DataCentres.

4. Continuing to permit the US military to transport weapons of war through Shannon Airport. The US military is responsible for 1.2 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases since the beginning of the ‘war on terror’ in 2001.

5. Refusing to ban the import of fracked gas.

6. Defending the government’s inclusion of #ShannonLNG on the Project of Common Interests list.

7. Misleading the public by promoting carbon budgets over degrowth as a viable way to mitigate the disastrous effects of #ClimateChange.

8. Overseeing onshore gas production at #Corrib, despite being opposed to the project previously.

9. Permitting the production of 8 new gas plants by 2024, despite the @greenparty_ie’s supposed opposition to fossil fuels and commitment to carbon neutrality.
