There is an interesting possible long term solution to end the problem of 30% of Ukraine being Russian ethnics who feel they have been made into second class citizens in Ukraine.

Ukraine has an interest in ending the ethnic conflict in its eastern areas that are dominated by Russian ethnics who refuse second class status in the new Ukraine.

And Russian equipment, businesses, and resources from those areas of Ukraine in the East, should be moved as well, repatriated to Russia proper.

Ukraine would rid itself of a non-Ukrainian population and Russia would gain population. A win for both sides.

One more point. In 1945, Poland expelled millions of Germans from land that became Poland after Germany's WWII loss. So there is precident. Poland claimed it did this to protect its sovereignty and culture. This is a legal precedent."
