I've been RTing @taalumot's powerful encounter with astrology today because this is exactly what it is and why I do it. when you look at the events in your life as they correlate to your transits, the idea of ✌️ coincidence ✌️ evaporates irrevocably.

ok, this is now a VERY QUICK AND DIRTY crash course to reading your own transits if you'd like to limp along.

1) go here and plug in your chart: astro.com/cgi/genchart.c…
2) select Natal chart and transits under "chart type"
3) use whole sign (simpler)

if you don't know your own chart, you'll want to actually NOT do 2) and just leave it as it is, and read through my primer: publish.obsidian.md/sadalsvvd/Astr…

or if you're intrepid you can just know that the inner ring is your natal chart (sky at birth) while transits are planets today

to change the date of transits, hit "Back to chart selection", then change these here to some significant event. major injuries, relationship events, windfalls, success stories, things like that tend to work really well for this sort of at-a-glance examination

the main stuff we want to look for on any given date is DYNAMIC ASPECTS or conjunction (0° or exactly on planet), square (90°/3 signs away), or oppositions (180°/6 signs away) for intense/major/possibly negative events, and trines (120°/4 signs away) for good/nice stuff

here are the planet glyphs for quick reference

BROADLY speaking, the benefics ("good" planets) and malefics ("bad" planets) likely show up at these major events:

benies:
- Venus - romance, money, friendship
- Jupiter - success, reward, joy

malies:
- Mars - conflict, anger, violence
- Saturn - loss, suffering, hardship

the Moon moves fast and times minor events, moods, etc. but 🌑 and 🌕 are basically mile markers for every 2 weeks, and impactful stuff is more likely to happen at full moon

the ☀️ usually "shines light" on stuff, emphasizes it

but mostly pay attention to benefics/malefics here

if you happen to have an OUTER planet in close aspect (esp. 0°/90°/180°) these can really mess your stuff up

Uranus - sudden, unexpected change, inspiration
Neptune - religious, psychedelic, paranoia, dissolution
Pluto - control, violence, intense experiences, transformation

then you basically plug these into the equation: transiting planet + close aspect + my natal planet = experience

for anonymous Mike, Saturn (hardship) opposition (peak moment) Venus (romance) + Uranus (sudden) square (conflict) Venus (romance) could = unexpected breakup

one thing that can help you hone in the aspects is to look at the "Additional tables" PDF on this view, and scroll down to see an ASPECT MATRIX of transiting planets -> natal planets

you can also reduce the allowed aspect size to display on the chart selection screen (I use 35%)

ex: on the day I flew to visit my spouse in Poland, I had (order: transit-aspect-natal):

- Venus (love) conjunct (combination, joining) Descendant (relationships)
- Mercury (travel) trine (happy) Jupiter (international travel/joy)
- Moon (timing) opp (confrontation) Jupiter (👆)

on the day I was fired, I had:

- Uranus (sudden) square (bad/upsetting) Moon (emotions)
- Pluto (compulsion) conjunct Descendant (also business relationships)
- Mars (conflict) opposing (conflict) Sun (identity, general self) AND Moon
- Mercury (news) conjunct Midheaven (career)

on the day I found a new job I had:

- Venus (good) AND Sun (self) trine (good) Sun (self)
- Mercury conjunct Midheaven AGAIN!
- Jupiter (success) opposing (not always bad with benefics) Jupiter (success)

now if you're feeling AMBITIOUS, you can incorporate *house rulerships* into it, and that is where the astrology EXPLODES

the RULER of the house is the planet that RULES the SIGN with the house

briefly: houses describe the domains of your life experience, and the planets ruling those houses indicate the experiences related to those houses by transit

house rulership is too complex to fit in tweets but if you're feeling ambitious, the basic formula is:

Transiting Planet (theme) ruling 1 or 2 natal houses (life domain) aspecting Natal Planet also ruling 1 or 2 natal houses, FROM a house by transit (connecting theme)

note: this ONLY works if you are sure of your birth time. if you're not sure within ~10m this could not work at all

on the day I was rear-ended at a red light, I had:

- Uranus (sudden) square (harsh) Moon (body) which rules my second house (2H), physical body (and yes, AGAIN)

I also had:

- Mercury (travel), ruling my 3H (travel by car) and 12H (injury), crossing into my 2H (physical body) at 29° 29' Cancer
- Mars (injury) ruling my 5H (gambling--I was going to a card club) conjunct my Moon/Sun, ruling 1H and 2H (body/self and body again)

LUCKILY I also had Jupiter, the benefic, in my 6th house (health), trining (protective) my Sun, square (harsh but involved) Mars (injury), and I was not injured (tho I lost money because I am an idiot and still played poker)

there were like 4 other close things. you get the idea

you'll notice that if you have two or more planets in tight configuration in your natal chart, transiting planets aspect BOTH planets at once.

this in fact points to the rhythm and structure of events in your life. transits can only reproduce your natal chart's potential

I'll stop there but this barely touches the tip of the iceberg with prediction. there are more techniques that show you WHICH planets are emphasized in a transit and which are safer to ignore. techniques that break time into years, months, and days. techniques that shake me
