1. It's not just Florida.

There are now 15 BILLS IN 8 STATES prohibiting discussions of LGBTQ identities in schools, according to a new report by @PENamerica

pen.org/educational-ga…
@PENamerica 2. In Kansas, HB 2662 would make it a Class B misdemeanor for a teacher to use any material in the classroom depicting “homosexuality.”

Not sexually explicit depictions of homosexuality.

ANY DEPICTION WHATSOEVER
3. In South Carolina, H 4605 forbids teachers from “subject[ing]” students to “controversial and age-inappropriate topics” like “gender identity or lifestyles.”
4. In Arizona, HB 2011 would force students to seek their parents’ permission before joining any school club “involving sexuality, gender or gender identity.”
5. In Tennessee, HB 800 would prohibit public K-12 schools from adopting any instructional materials that “promote, normalize, support, or address lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) issues or lifestyles.”
6. In North Carolina, S 514 would require teachers and college faculty to report to a parent if their child displays signs of “gender nonconformity.”
7. "Everywhere across the country, anti-LGBTQ+ advocates and the 'anti-CRT' movement are converging. The more that lawmakers warm to classroom censorship, the more anti-LGBTQ+ activists will seek to exploit that fact. "

1. The Florida politicians behind the "Don't Say Gay" bill are backed by corporations that claim to be champions of LGBTQ rights

Follow along for details and receipts

popular.info/p/florida-poli…
2. The bill would prohibit teachers through 3rd grade from engaging in any discussion involving "sexual orientation or gender identity"

Should it become law, young students w/same-sex parents could be prohibited from discussing their family in class

popular.info/p/florida-poli…
3. All teachers would be prohibited from discussing gender or sexual orientation in ways that are not "age-appropriate," a term that is undefined.

The ambiguity is the point. It is likely to chill any discussion of sexual orientation or gender

1. Louisiana @AGJeffLandry appeared last December with RFK Jr. at a hearing to spread misinformation about COVID vaccines and the state "mandate" to vaccinate students.

Now he's using the same dishonest tactics to raise money.

Follow along for the details of this grift ImageImage
@AGJeffLandry 2. Landry claims he's fighting against an "illegal rule mandating Covid shots for all children attending school K-12"

First, COVID vaccines will be treated like all other vaccines in LA. And that means parents can opt-out for any reason - medical, religious, or philosophical
3. Second, even that optional "requirement" only applies to situations where the vaccine is fully approved by the FDA. And that applies, right now, only to students 16 and older

So the claim that children as young as 5 will be forced to get the vaccine is false in multiple ways

1. Anytime you turn on the TV, you'll see ads promoting the efforts of major corporations to achieve "net zero" emissions.

They want you to know they are taking the climate crisis seriously.

But are these companies actually taking meaningful action?

popular.info/p/zero-credibi…
2. @Amazon is very into climate pledges. It created The Climate Pledge to encourage other companies to pledge to reach net zero by 2040

And they renamed the home of the NHL's Kraken "Climate Pledge Arena"

But Amazon's CO2 emissions have been INCREASING

popular.info/p/zero-credibi…
3. It's very easy to MAKE a pledge.

It's much harder to CREATE a credible plan to achieve net zero.

And it's even harder to EXECUTE against that plan.

A new study shows that corporate rhetoric around net zero is mostly smoke and mirrors

Rapaport's video and his claim that NYC Rite Aids were closing due to a recent surge and thefts were featured six articles in the @nypost alone

@MichaelRapaport @riteaid @nypost @axios 3. But the claim wasn't limited to right-wing media outlets controlled by Rupert Murdoch. It was echoed by @axios, which presented Rapaport's claims as fact, citing the @nypost's "reporting."

Axios said it was proof of a "crisis"
