Basically half of the cabinet is here to announce new travel rules
As of Feb 28th, the requirement for fully vaccinated travellers to have a negative PCR test to get in to Canada is dropped. You still need a negative test but now you can uses a rapid test #cdnpoli
If you have unvaccinated kids, they don’t have to quarantine anymore if you’re travelling to Canada.
The feds are also dropping the non-essential travel advisory #cdnpoli#ottnews
The Transport Minister says that all airports in Canada will be able to receive international flights as of Feb 28th #cdnpoli
Minister Mendicino says the convoy in Ottawa has a “very extreme ideology” and has “intimidated and harassed” the citizens of Ottawa. He adds that this has happened for three weekends in a row and it “must stop” #cdnpoli#ottnews
“We now depend on our law enforcement to enforce the laws the government has written” - Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino #cdnpoli#ottnews
The Transport Minister says “it’s our hope the tow truck operators are willing to comply” when asked by police to tow but if they don’t “law enforcement agencies will enforce the law” and compel tow truck drivers to tow #cdnpoli#ottnews
“What is driving this movement is a small organized group which is driven by an ideology to overthrow the government” - Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino #cdnpoli#ottnews
I asked Mendicino if it’s his expectation that force would be required to move the trucks in Ottawa.
He said he certainly hopes not and that the feds first preference to keep it peaceful, adding that it’s been very fortunate that the protest has stayed peaceful #cdnpoli
I also asked Mendicino if he thinks the trucks in Ottawa have guns like they did in Coutts?
He wouldn’t speculate on if that is the case but added that they have given police the tools that are needed to enforce the law #cdnpoli#ottnews

Friends, it’s time to check-in on Ottawa’s nightlife, to take your mind off city council garbage
Possibly the weirdest showing yet at Ottawa’s Hottest Club, Wellington St
People are just standing beside this truck with their hands up as a horn honks to a freedom chant #cdnpoli
The only other thing happening at Wellington St. is these guys are trying to play keep up. As you can see, they are very poor soccer players. Keep working on your first touch boys! #cdnpoli#ottnews
Leaving Wellington St, you see this group of trucks in a new formation, clogging what was earlier today a clear intersection.
This is common to see now at major intersections, a ploy by the convoy to make it hard to tow trucks #cdnpoli#ottnews
A large group of protestors just confronted the cops on Queen St.
Looks like the cops weren’t happy with the truck that is parked across the street here on Queen. The group came in and started chanting freedom #cdnpoli#ottnews
In between the chanting of freedom, this guy is reading off the bill of rights.
Other people are yelling at the cops to go home #cdnpoli#ottnews
The crowd just went into a rendition of O Canada, then someone blew a horn right in the face of one of the cops #cdnpoli#ottnews
The Convoy has called press conference. The speakers are Daniel Bulford, Vincent Gircys, Eddie Stewart Cornell #cdnpoli#ottnews
Bulford says the Emergencies Act still allows people with kids to come Ottawa as long as they are participating in peaceful protest, which they are saying this is #cdnpoli#ottnews
Bulford is inviting everyone to come to Ottawa because it will make it more difficult for the police to enforce the new orders #cdnpoli#ottnews
Friends, it’s time to check-in on Ottawa’s nightlife.
No party tonight at Ottawa’s Hottest Club, Wellington St
I spoke with the guy who owns the flatbed/stage earlier today and be said he ain’t leaving no matter what happens. Guess the party will continue at a future date…
Down at Ottawa’s second hottest club, Rideau and Sussex, its surprisingly busy.
Decent crowd for a Monday night, and there is enough fuel to keep the party going for days.
“After discussing with Cabinet and Caucus with consultation with the Premiers, after speaking with oppo leaders, the federal government has invoked the emergencies act”- Trudeau #cdnpoli
Trudeau says the Emergencies Act will allow fines and imprisonment and will allow the RCMP to enforce provincial and municipal bylaws as required #cdnpoli#ottnews
