Yes, these voter suppression bills target Black people, but we cannot call this “Jim Crow 2.0,” because this also effects Latinx, native, and poor white people. This is “James Crow, Esquire.”

We’ve been fighting voter suppression here in North Carolina since 2010. They didn’t win a supermajority, they cheated. They used racist voter suppression and gerrymandering to create an unconstitutionally constituted legislature. #NCpol

It’s not about whether they are Republican or Democrat. This is about whether they care about the Constitution.

Before new maps are redrawn, we the people need to see them! All the people. #NCpol

Bring it out in the open. Let the people speak. Give the people public hearings. We didn’t win these victories for you to then go behind closed doors, Democrat or Republican. This is really about the future and the survival of this state and this country and even the South.

Just one example of what could happen if we have fair maps and fair elections: 500,000 North Carolinians could have healthcare, because our current unconstitutionally constituted state legislature has refused to expand Medicaid, even in the midst of the COVID pandemic.
