As #PitchWars is ending, I just wanted to do a master-list of all the mentorship programs that are out there. If you know of another one, please feel free to tell me and I'll add it onto the thread.
Thank you to @AngelDiZhang for the idea! I'll steal @molly_katheryn and @gigigriffis's lists as they're already there (as part of WTMP's Open Inbox). I also saw @ByGeorgeJreije's list! He's addicted to mentoring so he knows what he's talking about.
Let's start with my own program to get it out the way--WTMP! @writeteammentor is a mentorship program focused on community and support with a biennial mentorship program. It will return in 2023. bit.ly/3qQbOqU
DiverseVoices Inc.’s DVMentor @_DiverseVoices, a 6mo program from June to Dec. each year. DVInc’s mission is to get more marginalized voices at the table. Sign up for their newsletter to be the first to know when it’ll open next! bit.ly/3G5ipV9
We Need Diverse Books (WNDB)’s @diversebooks mission is to put more books featuring diverse characters into the hands of all children! They offer lots of resources and point to many other mentorship programs on their site, and run a mentorship program! bit.ly/34kXNtO

The Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency @MMLitAgency has a mentorship program that ends in consideration for representation. Applications opened and closed in the summer last year! madeleinemilburn.co.uk/mentorship/
And lastly, BE YOUR OWN MENTOR: a site collecting numerous resources on writing, revising, querying, and more. Why? Because you’re a badass—you got this! bit.ly/3n7qL6W
I'll try to put this up on my website eventually so it's easy to find! Right now I am burning tofu

I love my PitchWars sibs! They're a great community. I love my mentor (and if Pintip is still the mentee liaison, she was great too!). I love what I learned about my craft going forward after doing PitchWars. It's an OVERALL positive experience. The good is better than the bad.
When you join PitchWars, do it for the stronger manuscript, for the exposure, and for the community. HOWEVER. This is not a GUARANTEED experience of PitchWars.
So. Because it seems the agent world has forgotten about the "Educate Yourself" piece of representing BIPOC, I am back again, to explain the role of coded language in publishing.
Like I said, sometimes I have no problems educating. I am an educator.
For the full scope of my earlier work on what AGENTS still need to do (as opposed to what publishers still need to do, which I also have a thread on lol), I outline the other major parts in this thread:
Y'all are doin' great. LUV what you've done with Black clients...but I HATE what you're NOT not doing. You've ENTIRELY missed the point of my earlier thread. YES, get Black clients--YES do better in that respect.
BUT IT MEANS NOTHING IF YOU DON'T EDUCATE YOURSELF.
