Friends, it’s time to check-in on Ottawa’s nightlife, to take your mind off city council garbage
Possibly the weirdest showing yet at Ottawa’s Hottest Club, Wellington St
People are just standing beside this truck with their hands up as a horn honks to a freedom chant #cdnpoli
The only other thing happening at Wellington St. is these guys are trying to play keep up. As you can see, they are very poor soccer players. Keep working on your first touch boys! #cdnpoli#ottnews
Leaving Wellington St, you see this group of trucks in a new formation, clogging what was earlier today a clear intersection.
This is common to see now at major intersections, a ploy by the convoy to make it hard to tow trucks #cdnpoli#ottnews
One more thing before leaving Wellington St.
Meet Blue! He looked to be alone (and trying to sleep!) right on the front line of trucks outside of Centre Block, with a sign from his owner addressed to police saying he has 4 young kids at home.
Ottawa’s Second Hottest Club, Rideau and Sussex looks like Zaphod’s (RIP 😭😭😭) used to on a Wednesday night. Music is blasting but only like five people showed up to dance
No Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters or cheap Jagerbombs but there is plenty of diesel. #cdnpoli#ottnews

The US trade war against Canada is now officially underway.
A 25% tariff on goods and a 10% tax on Canadian energy sold to the US is now in place.
Canada has reciprocated with a 25% tariffs on $30B of goods, that will increase to $155B in 21 days #cdnpoli
If the tariffs stay in place for an extended period of time, the Bank of Canada says the economy will head into a recession and inflation will spike back up.
Combine that with 100,000’s of layoffs that could happen, and stagflation could soon be coming for Canada #cdnpoli
As for the US economy, tariffs will likely raise prices and increase inflation.
TD has estimated gas could go up 70 cents a gallon, cars could increase by $3000 and houses made with Canadian lumber could go up $29000 #cdnpoli
Liberal MP Han Dong is alleged to have been helped by the Chinese consulate in Toronto during his 2019 nomination race, by bussing in seniors & students to vote for him, according to CSIS docs & sources
CSIS asked the PM's senior staff to rescind Dong's nomination, per sources
Through a combo of CSIS docs and intelligence sources, Global News has learned the consulate allegedly sent 2 busloads of Chinese Canadian Seniors to Liberal nomination meeting, and those seniors knew who to vote for, because Dong’s name was written on their arm #cdnpoli
Sources also say CSIS suspected that Chinese international students with faked addresses were bussed in to Don Valley North and “told by the PRC Consulate” to support Dong, “if they want(ed) to maintain their student visa status,” as per CSIS docs and intelligence sources
BREAKING – Justice Paul says the government met the threshold to bring in the Emergencies Act
“There was credible and compelling evidence supporting both subjective and objective reasonable belief in the existence of a public order emergency."
Here are some other key facts from the report.
Rouleau found on multiple league grounds the feds were justified on bringing in the EA. Cabinet had “credible and compelling information” that there was a “threat to the security of Canada” #cdnpoli
“The invocation of the Emergencies Act is a drastic move, but it is not a dictatorial one” said Rouleau. He went on to say, "I concluded that in this case, the very high threshold was met. I have done so with reluctance." #cdnpoli
I'm watching the Federal Court hearing where Doug Ford and Sylvia Jones are fighting their summons to testify at the Public Order Emergency Commission looking into the use of the Emergencies Act. I'll tweet out some highlights #cdnpoli#ottnews
The lawyer representing Ford and Jones is arguing they have Parliamentary privileges allowing them not to be compelled to testify while the ON legislature is sitting, which gives them a “lawful excuse to not comply with the summons” from the POEC #cdnpoli#ottnews
The summons has put Ford and Jones in the “intolerable position of having to assert their privilege and potentially be faced with competed proceedings” as per their lawyer, adding that if they could face "irreparable harm" if a stay is not granted #cdnpoli#onpoli
Ontario Premier Doug Ford and former Solicitor General Sylvia Jones have been summoned to appear at the Public Order Emergency Commission, looking into the use of the Emergencies Act.
The commission says they will get confirmation later today if they will appear #cdnpoli
Both Jones and Ford have come up repeatedly in testimony
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said Ford didn't want anyone from the province to attend meetings with other levels of government to deal with the Convoy because it would be a "waste of time" #cdnpoli
