Sneaker deals have always been an integral part of
πŸ€NBAπŸ€athletes careers.

5 deals below, each had something unique to it.

πŸ”Ή @KingJames x $NKE
πŸ”Ή @Jumpman23 x $NKE
πŸ”Ή @StephenCurry30 x $UAA
πŸ”Ή #Kobe x $NKE
πŸ”Ή @alleniverson x #Reebok

1. Lebron

18 year, the kid from Akron was offered up to $100m from #Reebok

AND $10m signing (check handed to him), but he couldn't meet w/ others.

He refused the deal and went back to school the next day. πŸŽ’

Eventually signing with $NKE.
He felt $NKE could offer him more.

Nike and him partnered on over 19 shoes already and he signed a lifetime deal in 2016 worth over $1b.

"Signing with Nike," LeBron said in 2018, "is the best business decision I've ever made."

2. Jordan

In the 1980's Converse had major NBA players such as Bird and Magic. Jordan also wanted to sign, but it didn't happen.

Next Adidas was interested as well, but they said to Michael's agent ...
"We’d love to have Jordan, we just can’t make a shoe work at this point in time."

MJ didn't want to meet with Nike. His mother forced him to take the meeting.

Today the Jordan Brand has generated billions for $NKE and helped globalize the NBA.

3. Steph

In 2013, his deal was up for renewal w/ $NKE.

Nike presentation to resign Steph had Kevin Durant's slides in them.

$UAA found unique ways to reach Curry. For example, they would send more boxes to his teammate Kent Bazemore
Bazemore was a rookie, β€œhe got more gear and boxes in front of his locker than anyone else on the team." -Curry said

They offered to make him the face of the brand. Today, Curry is arguably the most popular NBA player.

4. Kobe Bean Bryant (RIP 😒)

In 2002, Kobe paid $8m to exit his deal with Adidas. He was not impressed with their designs.

Summer 03' Kobe signs with Nike and ends up creating some of the most innovative sneakers ever.
He collaborated closely with their designers to focus on performance, aesthetic design and comfort. Truly a visionary , the BLACK MAMBA #mambamentality

Fun fact: In 2003 $NKE signed Kobe and Lebron both.

5. The 'Answer' AI

AI signed with Reebok his rookie year 10 years $50m.

They re worked his deal in 2001 to make it lifetime, he receives $800k a year AND has $32m in a trust which he receives in 2030.
Iverson continues to make public appearances for the brand till date. One of the most iconic figures of his era and influential players.

🧡...This is the balance sheet that the FED has to unwind, to try and curb inflation, control asset prices, along with ensure employment markets are stable.

There are SEVERAL other effects.... thread below 🧡

Seeing a lot of comparisons being made to the drawdown in the markets to December 2018.

While there are some similarities in reasoning, the backdrop today is quite different and brings us to look into a lot more variables.

Lets dive in πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡... $SPX $QQQ
1/ Inflation: tΜΆrΜΆaΜΆnΜΆsΜΆiΜΆtΜΆoΜΆrΜΆyΜΆ πŸ“ˆ

πŸš— - Used cars pricing > 25%
🏠 - Home prices ~20% increase
⛽️ - Oil up >50%
🍲 - Food prices >5%

CPI Index increased 6.2 percent from October 2020 to October 2021, the largest 12-month increase since Nov 1990.
2/ Rising rates 🏦

While the Fed had 4 rate hikes in 2018, we had international trade uncertainty, Brexit, an attempt to front run economic growth and more.

Today the story and narratives are different.

But in its full vision, the Metaverse becomes the gateway to most digital experiences, a key component of all physical ones, and the next great labor platform."
