The supposed attack on a #CGL site in BC stinks worse than a 2-week-old rotting fish.
So for #cdnmedia who are too lazy to engage their brains after they're handed a police press release, I'm going to lay out all the puzzling bits, based on what we know so far. Long🧵
#Wetsuweten
1. First and foremost is the timing. A violent attack immediately after the Emerg Act is enacted giving police extra powers to deal with violent protests. Also not long after CGL is forced to admit their project is haemorrhaging $$. This timing along makes this sus
2. MO - Up til now there has not been a single violent attack by anti-CGL land defenders. In every case where @Wetsuweten Chiefs have acted against CGL sites, they have provided advance warning, conducted their work calmly and in broad daylight, and any equipment that was...
... disabled, it was precise and careful, not destroying the equipment or rendering it permanently inoperable. So suddenly they change MO? Right after the EMA is enacted?
Now we get into the nitty gritty of the 'attack' itself
3. The site is some 70km deep in the bush with only 1 access road. The CGL workers say nothing about the 'attackers arriving in vehicles. The RCMP report includes no mention of encountering vehicles on the...
...access road. So what... the attackers walked in and out 70 km, in January? The anti-pipeline movement has secretly developed teleporter technology? Aliens?
4. The responding RCMP say they hit a roadblock at the 41km mark and were attacked by people with 'burning sticks.' Against RCMP officers with guns. And they weren't able to apprehend or even identify a single person? And again, our attackers vanish into thin air.
5. CGL has boasted about installing these fancy surveillance pods at all its sites. Are they telling us their expensive high tech toys weren't able to get a shot of anything that went down? And in the age of mobile phone cameras, not a single CGL worker recorded anything?
6. Unless they were attacked by Paul Bunyan and his big blue ox, a small group of people with axes could not possibly do the damage seen in the photos. Someone had to go on a rampage with a piece of equipment like an excavator. Does CGL routinely leave the keys in their ...
... vehicles on site that an invader could just hop in and rev her up? So far we've seen no photos of any undamaged vehicles that could have been used to do the damage to all the others...
...And the time it would have taken to enact a rampage of that scale. We're looking at a sustained attack of at least an hour. Going on all that time and again not one security guard or worker managed to get a single photo or vid of the attack in progress.
All in all, more plot holes than in all six seasons of Lost combined. In the final analysis, we have to ask which scenario is more likely:
First, that anti-pipeline land defenders chose to change tactics and engage in an apparently complex and sophisticated violent attack, at a point when police have just been given immense powers to deal with violent protests... OR...
Second, that at a time when the project is financially floundering, the RCMP and/or CGL seized the opportunity of expanded police powers and heightened public sensitivity to violent protest, to try and deal their opposition a crippling blow.
And finally, all this bearing in mind that the RCMP have a long and storied history of smears, dirty tricks and black ops.
Sorry, February... COVID has destroyed all sense of time.
