1. MISTRANSLATION

i should emphasize that this is not a typo but a mistranslation. and it’s one of important details of wei wuxian’s feeling development for lan wangji. the mistranslation ruins that detail.

2. UNNECESSARY OMISSION

MDZS is not even that long. you don’t need to unnecessarily omit anything, especially those important details. it ruins the characters developments and the flow of the story

- unnecessarily changing the way the character addresses the other character which can change the dynamic view between the characters since the way the characters call each other determines closeness/intimacy

i’m very well aware that translation doesn’t have to be 100% faithful word per word to the original text as the translator can change/add as they see fit, but translation should always succeed to convey the message from the original text. that’s what i learned in university.

seven seas team @gomanga @yummysuika @pengiesama should be able to convince us the quality of the next volumes because many people are now reluctant to get the copy. convince us the way you did back then that the book was in the good hands

this is not a boycott, but no one wants to spend $20 for a low quality of book. and i hope i won’t need to add anything anymore to this list, but if there is more mistakes found later, i will add it on this thread 🥲 also, this thread is made without any ill intention, purely ++

as a form of complain from customers to those who are responsible for it, and also to make people aware that these “little mistakes” can’t be easily dismissed because it’s very important to the whole story.

(this is not a new mistake found, and i already attached the main tweet up there, but just in case someone may not see it, this is another point that the reviewer on goodreads wrote.)

since i saw people saying the possibility of new manuscript hence the omissions, i’m gonna link this tweet that states which version seven seas uses for translation. it’s based on pinsin edition, released on 2016.
