The thing that’s always struck me about this (not only as a Black woman but also as a psychiatrist IRL who’s literally tasked with helping people cope with stress, illness and the ups & downs of life) is the Black woman savior complex of it all. It’s subconscious but ubiquitous.

As with many things in America, I also think it’s yet another sociological phenomenon brought to us by slavery. A lot of White family systems fell apart (continue to) without the presence of a Mammy or some form of matriarchal Black help in the home. jstor.org/stable/2714687
I think that’s why when Black women in the modern day don’t feel obligated to expend any extra time or energy (for FREE) on trying to educate White people into finally deciding to act like they have some sense and save their own lives, they feel slighted and insulted. 🧐🤷🏾♀️
Their attitude is basically like “aren’t you supposed to go out of your way to serve me?” Some of them hit the point of all out rage about it, which is also when their deep seated bigotry & ignorance starts shining through, no matter how much they profess to be a reliable ally.
The bottom line is still that a lot of White Americans (not all 😒) don’t want to do the necessary work, across multiple domains of society and citizenship. They’ve been conditioned to outsource utilitarian/egalitarian sacrifice to “those people” while they bathe in privilege.
