SEFF remembers James Keenan & Martin McGuigan, both 16, RC & from Darkley, S Armagh, murdered (& 3 15-yr-olds injured) by a PIRA bomb that had been set off beside a stolen trailer on 24/2/79.

James died instantly & Martin McGuigan a few hrs later. The teenagers were walking to..

a Sat night dance when the bomb exploded, creating a 5-ft-deep crater.

Police said the PIRA fired around a dozen shots at the teenagers as they lay injured on the ground.

PIRA "apologized" to the families of the dead youths :- "tragically the youths & their position on the ..

..road were mistaken for the movements of soldiers & the bomb was set off".

A youth lost an arm. Another was critically injured & was partially paralysed & confined to a wheelchair.

This was a heinous action which no barbed apology could ever redress, this was the murder ...

SEFF remembers the 7 victims of the Official IRA Aldershot Barracks bomb, lunchtime, 50 yrs ago, 22/2/72.
Aldershot was the first IRA target on the British Mainland. It was the 16th Parachute Brigade Officers Mess at the side of Pennyfathers Rd. At 5:30am, IRA placed a car bomb..

We try to encourage the Protestant/Unionist section of the community to look at GAA in its’ widest context & what it means for many people, ie sport & identity - but events like today don’t help.

Clancy, Coney & Campbell weren't heroes or martyrs but part of an insurrectionist..

..movement; the objective being the overthrow of the NI state & which included the murder of neighbours.
These men may have played Gaelic Games but that's not the issue. They are being remembered by their Gaelic club (Clonoe O’Rahilly’s) for their identity as members of PIRA ....

..hence the language ‘Vol’ & ‘Fallen Gaels.’
Once again sport & politics has become entangled. What message is being sent out to today’s generation? Do the GAA leadership condone wilful misuse of their Games for this political purpose?

SEFF remembers Patrick Molloy, 46, RC DoE employee & farmer from Allistragh, Co. Armagh, married with 5 kids & Jack Wylie, 49, Protestant dealer from Kilmore, Armagh & a member of the Diamond Memorial Orange Lodge, murdered by UVF at the RC-owned Traynor's pub on 19/2/74.

Patrick said to the owner, who'd been standing only a few feet away: "Some of your children must have put something on the fire for I smell burning". He'd been going to investigate when the bomb went ..

SEFF remembers Francis Taggart, 23, RC store man from Fernagh Av, Newtownabbey, murdered by UDA/UFF terrorists on 17/2/73. He was found fatally wounded early on a Saturday morning in a car that had been abandoned by the UDA/UFF.

Francis worked in the..

..Ravenhill area & was last seen at a local garage. Shortly afterwards, an anonymous call was made giving details where the car had been abandoned. When police arrived, they found Francis still alive but was hooded & shot in the right temple. He died in hospital later that pm. ..

..The coroner said the shooting was a mystery while a police inspector said there'd been no reason to believe Francis was involved with any illegal organisation.

SEFF remembers Andrew Johnston, 17, Protestant mechanic from the Silverstream area who was working at a video library on 17/2/92 when 2 masked IPLO gunmen entered at 8:00pm & shot him. Andrew was hit several times & died immediately.

An assistant kneeling behind the counter ...

..escaped injury.

Andrew was a community worker for the Elim Pentecostal Church. He was an only son & had given up a job as a motor mechanic to assume a job in a jewellery shop.

Andrew was murdered by the IPLO who said it "would not stand by & see nationalists gunned down ..
