President Biden says “none of us will be fooled by the Russian incursion in Ukraine, that the U.S. is sanctioning Russian financial firms, cutting off Russia from relieving debt anywhere in the West.He say equipment +troops will be in place to protect Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania.
President Biden announced the “first tranche” in a series of tough sanctions against 2 Russian banks, VEB and Russia’s military bank. He condemned what he called Putin’s “bizarre” recognition of two separatist republics. “He’s setting up a rationale to go much further.”
Biden said Russia’s sovereign debt will be sanctioned so Russia “can no longer raise money from the West and cannot trade its new debt on our markets or European markets either.” Biden said sanctions on Russian elites would be rolled out tomorrow.
“Who in the Lord’s name does Putin think gives him the right to declare new so-called countries in territories that belong to his neighbors?” Biden was firm that we will not have our troops fighting in Ukraine. And, we will feel a consequence of war, including higher gas prices.

Here we go. Late Friday update on #Ukraine from President Biden.
Biden is saying Russian media is making phony fabrications of genocide in Ukraine. ”To set up a false justification to act against Ukraine”- he says Ukrainian troops are showing great restraint after being baited by Russia. He says an attack could come any day.
He says Russia can still avoid war through diplomacy. He cites a meeting next week between Secretary of State Blinken and Lavrov unless Russia attacks before that. “Russia has a choice between war and all the suffering it will bring, or diplomacy.”

In a letter to the Trump Organization on Feb. 9, the Mazars notified the company of its decision and disclosed that it could no longer stand behind annual financial statements it prepared for Trump.” Mazers says don’t rely on 2011-2020 statements. nytimes.com/2022/02/14/nyr…
“Because Ms. James’s investigation is civil, she cannot file criminal charges. But she could sue Mr. Trump and his company to seek financial penalties, and could try to shut down certain aspects of Mr. Trump’s business in New York.”
One of the things being looked at is this: Trump’s long-serving chief financial officer, Allen H. Weisselberg, later acknowledged to investigators that the company had overvalued the apartment by “give or take” $200 million.
