HA's Dr Lau Kau-hin update about the 9-year-old boy who passed away this morning.
Q: Why can't parents stay with infected children hospitalised?
Dr Lau: If the parent/caregiver is also infected, we will try to accommodate them with their child. If not infected, it's not advisable to admit them into the isolation ward.
Dr Lau: Hospital Authority hopes families can understand the strain on the hospital system at the moment.
Q: Do you have enough staff for these new hospitals being built?
Dr Lau: We're still treating non-Covid patients as well. We've asked staff to work longer. But they're only human. Hope get help from other sources, including the private sector.
Dr Lau: We can't daily PCR test all the HA staff. There's over 80k staff members. RAT tests are quite reliable.
