Hi! This thread is called "Comics to read before #TheBatman what isn't 'Ego', Year One' and 'The long Halloween'! Doesn't need futher explanations than that, so lets start this party!
Batman: City of Crime: a massive 12-part saga publish inm 'Detective Comics', written by David Lapham (Stray Bullets). with arts by Ramon Bachs & Nathan Massengill. #TheBatman
Failing to recognize a young girl s cry for help, which results in the death of six teenage girls, #TheBatman descends into Gotham s underworld, uncovering the city s long-hidden, dark truths. [+]
Do you want a massive-inspired comic based on 'Batman: Year One', which goes around all the row of classic Batman characters, bottom to the top, whilen givving a gritty-gridding-teeth-action story? This 2000's classic is your book. #TheBatman
'Catwoman Vol.1: Trail of Catwoman' is the start of the extremely sucessful Ed Brubaker era of the character, with arts by the legendary Darwin Cooke and Brad Rader. #TheBatman
Catwoman is broke, and is oblied to return to Gotham, while found her old affair Sam Bradley and her old friend Molly. But turns out, her return pushes into a more heroic path, as she decides to protect the neighbourhood she grow up from enemies AND the cops. #TheBatman
The modern anti-hero roots of Catwoman lies in this books (which paper includes the also awesome Selina's Big Score), and as the movie is heavily influenced by Long Halloween, Year One & Tom King's take of the character, watchful eyes will see the Brubaker DNA on it #TheBatman
And speak of the devil: 'Batman: I am Suicide' by Tom King and Mikel Janín, which Batman had to build his on Suicide Squad using Arkham inmates (including Catwoman) to rescue the damaged Gotham Girl from Bane's hands in Santa Prisca. #TheBatman
Tom King is a assumed inspiration for the movie (certain shots SCREAM Mitch Gerard pages), but strangely this one is kept out of the talks. not just stabilish the seeds of many of the new connections of Bruce and Selina (which the movie uses), [+] #TheBatman
but is also a amazing comic what show how their patnership works, while exibiting a surpringly vulnerable side of Batman what fits so well the overall theme of the movie (for what we've seen). #TheBatman
'Legends of the Dark Knight: Riddle Me That': The Riddler is BACK, with a fresh look, sharper mind and with a WAY more brutal approach, by the team of inker Shane McCarthy (writer) and Tommy Castillo (art). #TheBatman
I could choose 'Zero Year'? Yes, but the point is to espace the obvious choices, and this is one of my all-time favorites, showing a version of The Riddler inspired by 'American Psycho' and 'Saw', [+] #TheBatman
and one of the really few times they tried do something different with the character on comics, which if you pay attention, he was never much fully explored overall (writting Riddles is HARD, dudes). [+] #TheBatman
Other medias outside comics had a better job to explore the character in ways that make him meaningful, interesting and popular (knowing the character just exists today because of Batman 66), and #TheBatman looks to keep that tradition with the Eat The Rich/Zodiac approach.
'Batman: Broken City' is another 2000s made by the golden team of '100 Bullets', Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso. Do you want a neon-noir, introspective, brutal and unapologetic awesome take of #TheBatman? This is your book. [+]
While investigating a murderer of a woman from high society, #TheBatman came too late to save a parents' child to be killed in a dark alley (ring any bells?), what make him embarks on a journey of self-discovery that forces to reflect on the life and the choices he has made.
And to close the thread: 'Batman: Gates of Gotham', written by Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins with illustrations by Trevor McCarthy. At the turn of the century, three prominent families shaped the construction of modern-day Gotham City. [+] #TheBatman
Now, a madman with three-hundred pounds of explosives and a century-old grudge is threatening to bring it all crashing down, targeting the holdings and legacies of Gotham's most notable families--including the Waynes. [+] #TheBatman
#TheBatman is dealing with the hidden and dirty secrets of Gotham's high society, and this book not just bring that to plenty (and with details), is also the perfect build up for those excited for the possibility for future Court of owls appearences. [+]
Also, is the only book of the list with Dick Grayson as Batman which aways is a plus. Ans with that, we close!!! #TheBatman is coming MARCH 1st (really soon), and i see y'all there!!!
Yes, i had promise, and now i'll talk about the delightful #CatwomanHunted! This is a genuine fun and well made movie, and i really hope Warner invest more in animes like this.
#CatwomanHunted starts in a very inspired opening scene stabilishing important info for all the story, with Catwoman freeing woman to be sold as slaves from Leviathan (YES, that one). [+]
Later, we see Selina trying to steal a jem which owner is Barbara Minerva, which here is also the (supposely) head of the Leviathan. #CatwomanHunted
#TheBatman looks dope, but needs nothing else to hype us more than we already had. Surprised for see finish shots of #AquamanAndTheLostKingdom, even for literally 2 frames of it.
#BlackAdam is EASILY the most exicitng thing for this trailer, and the one what had most shots. I was already hyped as a SJA fan, but damn, this looks amazingly good. Will be great see the full trailer together with #TheBatman.
Watching the late episodes of #Batwoman, and i LOVE they bring back the "Bruce Wayne is Batman" moment. Is like "The TARDIS is bigger on the inside" of the show, and cracks me up every time.
A LOT od dutch angles on this episode. Not judging, based on certain things remind actually a serious version of Batman 66. #Batwoman
Alice been right about why the hell has a tree on the Batcave is the biggest payoff of the seson.#Batwoman
I have finally watched the first 2 episodes of #NAOMI and is time to give me my first impressions about it. The original comic is one of the best things DC did recently, so the show live up to the level of quality?
I wish to say i have really enjoyed what i saw, but the series have a rough start. The episodes were well directed (including the one made by showrunner Ava) but the script itself have some issues what pop out when you actually shoot them. #NAOMI
Specially in the pilot, the writing makes a REAL effort to highlight HOW COOL Naomi is to basicly everyone, and they doesn't do that in most natural way. Kaci Wallfall did a good job as the protagonist, but i dont see yet a material what could bring her A Game. #NAOMI
