On 26th February, 65 Bhikkhus from #China and 65 from #SriLanka jointly performed a Seth Pirith Chanting for the friendship, health and well-beings of the peoples of the two countries to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of🇨🇳🇱🇰Diplomatic Relations.

Four Buddhist monasteries attended the event:
Abhayagiriya Vihāra in Anuradhapura 🇱🇰,
Maha Pirivena/Ode Temple in Colombo 🇱🇰,
Putuo Temple in Zhuhai 🇨🇳,
Lingguang Temple in Beijing 🇨🇳

They highly appraised the historic exchanges of 🇨🇳🇱🇰Bhikkhus & Bhikkhunis. Buddhism has been a key factor in strengthening #SriLanka - #China relations.

Amb. Qi: The Buddhist exchanges between #China and #SriLanka date back thousands of years and are deeply rooted in the heart of our peoples.

Amb. Qi: Many Bhikkhus/Bhikkhunis from both countries defied the separation of mountains and seas, travelled along the Silk Road, and sowed seeds of friendship. Faxian (337-422 AD), Bhikkhuni Devasara Thisarana (5th C.) & Amoghavajra (705-774) etc. were well-known pioneers.
