“Are you sure this is a good idea, baobei?” Wen Shui asked worriedly, her brows furrowing worriedly as her partner ran around the room in a panic. “If they catch us leaving-“
“Darling, my love, my whole heart.” Qingheng-Jun whispered, walking
over and putting her head in his hands. “If you get caught pregnant with my child and we are not married the consequences will be far worse.” He sighed, letting his hands fall to his shoulders. “I love you so much, you know that right? I can’t loose you.”
“I know, I know.” Wen Shui replied, hanging her head in shame. “But surely there has to be another way.”
“There is no other way.” Qingheng-Jun said sadly, resting a hand over his girlfriends pregnant belly. “We have to leave to protect our family.”
The pregnant woman sighed again, still not convinced.
“What about Qiren, huh?” She asked almost accusingly. “Is he not your family? What will happen to him if you leave?”
“This isn’t about him, okay?” Qingheng-Jun grumbled. “It’s about you, our child and our future.”
He continued, turning back around to continue packing their things. “He will be fine, our parents like him more anyway. He will be a good leader as well. One day I’ll come back to explain this all to him, but for now we have to leave.”
“Baobei.” Wen Shui sighed.
“You and I both know that the cultivation world is no place to raise a child. Especially a child born out of wedlock.” The man warned, turning to face her. “Think about the peaceful life our child could have,
my love. They would never have to go through what we went through.”
Wen Shui looked down at her partner, focusing on the earnest look in his amber eyes.
“You’re right.” She concluded, using her hand to support her belly. “This is the best option.”
Qingheng-Jun offered her a sympathetic smile.
“When our child is grown up when can visit our families, I promise.” He said softly. “But all I want right now is to be able to live with you in peace.”
“I love you.” Wen Shui said with a smile, about to bend down to kiss
her boyfriend, but before she could even start to bend over, Qingheng-Jun was on his feet.
“Don’t you dare!” He scolded, giving her a quick peck on the lips. “We cannot have you doing any extra work! It will stress you and the baby out.”
“What did I do to deserve you?”
The woman asked with a grin, kissing Qingheng-Jin’s nose. “Come, we need to leave before the sun rises.”
“‘Mm, I’m nearly done packing.”
That night the pair of them snuck out of the cloud recesses, seemingly undetected by any of the Lan disciples.
Qingheng-Jun has stolen a horse from his father to carry his partner.
They walked for days before they came across a small town, where
they asked a local innkeeper to marry them.
The innkeeper took a liking to the pair of them and offered them a small abandoned farm just outside of the town.
With no where else to go, the pair agreed to take on the farm.
It had been abandoned for years now, so
when the pair arrived they were greeted with rather terrible living conditions.
Coming from two of the biggest families in the country, neither of them were really happy with this. But, they had no other option now, so Qingheng-Jun rolled up his sleeves and got to
work.
The last few months of Wen Shui’s pregnancy was spent sitting back and watching as her husband tried (and failed most of the time) to fix up their new house.
But, by the time their first born son graced them with his presence, they had fixed up the main building on
the farm.
“What do you think, hmm?” Qingheng-Jun asked as he held his baby above his head. “Is this enough for you?”
“Please be gentle.” Wen Shui said with a gentle laugh. “He is only small.”
“Ah, my Xichen is strong, there is no need to be gentle.”
Qingheng-Jun replied with an amused grin, hugging his son to his chest.
“Ah, he must have got the Wen strength then.” Wen Shui grinned, laying down in their shared bed.
