We are witnessing yet another war in our region. President Erdogan has offered to mediate between Russia and Ukraine as we have strong relations with both countries. He also called for a unified stance on the part of the allies.
As Türkiye, we have done everything we can to prevent this at the diplomatic level. Our calls to reform the UN system have fallen on deaf ears and we have seen the dire consequences in this latest crisis. This war could have been prevented if our calls were heeded.
We have repeatedly called for a diplomatic solution, but the war is a reality right now. The international community’s lack of unity over a number of regional and global issues has been a major problem just like it has over the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
This conflict brings us face to face with two tragedies. The first is the humanitarian challenge and Türkiye will do what’s necessary. Just as we have been the leader on this front in other regional conflicts, we’ll do the same in this one.
The second tragedy is the relentless attacks on truth. We are fully aware and working to confront disinformation and misinformation campaigns. In this war of information, we will stand with truth regardless of its source.
There is a lot of speculation and commentary about Türkiye’s policy. Everyone should be assured that Türkiye’s diplomatic actions and coordination with allies will always focus on how to achieve a quick and peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Türkiye believes in the constructive and creative power of diplomacy and tries to exhaust all diplomatic options in every crisis. This latest conflict is both unfortunate and unnecessary. We will try to prevent this war’s immediate and long-term consequences.

The U.S. statement about our President Erdogan’s remarks on the Israeli violence against Palestinian civilians is absolutely unacceptable. Those who do not have the courage and decency to condemn the killing of children have no moral standing to lecture anyone.
The attempt to stain our courageous and outspoken leader’s struggle with a despicable charge of anti-Semitism is appalling. It is a cowardly statement to divert the international attention away from Israel’s crimes against humanity.
Our President simply pointed out (and he will continue to do so) that the U.S. administration is complicit in Israel’s expanding occupation and the apartheid regime. The U.S.’s continued military support and prevention of meaningful UNSC action are just a few examples.
President Erdoğan will pay an official visit to our brotherly nation Azerbaijan over the next two days. This visit represents a turning point in our bilateral relations after Azerbaijan was able to liberate its occupied lands. We look forward to celebrating this historic victory
Our motto “One Nation, Two States” guide our relations with Azerbaijan and we are committed to the security and prosperity of Azerbaijan. We will always stand ready to support our Azerbaijani brothers and sisters in their quest to develop as a strong nation.
Our President Erdogan has spared no effort to make sure Azerbaijan’s just cause is heard around the world. He has been at the forefront of international efforts to end the Armenian occupation and for Azerbaijan’s case to be made in international forums.
French President Macron’s anti-Muslim agenda is bearing fruit! Charlie Hebdo just published a series of so-called cartoons full of despicable images purportedly of our President. We condemn this most disgusting effort by this publication to spread its cultural racism and hatred.
The so-called caricatures are loathsome and they are devoid of any real sense of human decency. It’s clearly the product of a xenophobic, Islamophobic, and intolerant cultural environment the French leadership seems to want for their country.
We have made our position clear that we oppose any violence against civilians and any acts of terrorism in the name of Islam. However, we will not remain silent in the face of disgusting attacks on our culture and religion no matter where it comes from.
President Macron’s recent anti-Islam rhetoric is yet another example of a desperate European politician vying for relevance. His flailing attempt to assume leadership in Europe is driving his promotion of Islamophobia, xenophobia, and his attacks on our President Erdogan.
Macron is not simply discriminating against Muslims in his own country and in Europe. He is doing this for a political purpose, trying to instrumentalize fears and ignorance. Macron is following the old Fascist playbook that targeted Jews in Europe in this manner.
We need to call out such irresponsible figures whose statements and actions are not simply the effect but the cause of hostility against Islam. Politicians like Macron are savoring opportunities to condemn a whole religion in order to cover their failings at the home front.
American politicians must already know and understand that Turkey will side with justice, peace and stability in regional crises. We will continue to stand with Azerbaijan in line with these principles in the latest escalation in the region.
Although Turkey’s position is in line with international law, some American politicians are using the latest tensions caused by Armenian attacks on Azerbaijan to increase their support from certain voting blocks and the Armenian lobby in the U.S.
It’s a disturbing trend that the US-Turkey relationship is being utilized in a presidential campaign season. Especially those who care about international organizations like NATO must avoid confronting a NATO ally in such a careless manner.
