Psst - I think someone's trying to pull a fast one on us.

One week ago, masks were required at State Of The Union by the Sergeant-at-arms on Thursday, February 17.

H/T @Amal4Solutions and @FinchTH

sports.yahoo.com/sergeant-arms-…

Three days later? Masks are optional.
wafb.com/2022/02/28/cap…

What happened?

Did transmission rates
drop so suddenly that masks are no longer required?

Not according to the new 'community' levels.

Firmly, orange. Which would be bright red on the old map.
No, what happened was politics.

Biden is going to try and convince the nation that he has beaten CoVid.

He's got all of the public health authorities to set aside public health for his political health.

@CDCgov for all of American health.
Congress’ Office of the Attending Physician for all of Congress.

Can that Office legitimately say that Don Young (R) at 87 years old is going to be ok? Or Eddie Johnson (D) at 85?

fiscalnote.com/blog/how-old-i…
Tara's question applies to the Congress’ Office of the Attending Physician as well as the CDC:
I don't trust the @CDCgov farther than I could throw their 10 year old laptop that is
hosting their rickety Community Levels at this point.

Gregg's thread analyzing those Community Levels really struck home.

Finally, I still am waiting for someone, anyone, to explain WHY we needed to change the metrics.

Given those celebrating that change are either Biden health cheerleaders or #urgencyofnone bad-faith actors like Prasad?

Bullshit.

Why?

Psst...one more thing.

The below antibody study indicates that we should treat novel variants of novel viruses much more carefully.

And that both of Biden's political decisions here on public health?

Are colossal disasters.

H/t @MLS_Dave (I believe) for this :

I will happily buy Prasad a gallon of raw milk - but only if he will have it fortified with H5N1.

Unlike him, I actually have read the H5N1 milk studies, and can accurately predict he would not have a good time.

Here kitty, Vinay nay.

/1 It is obvious that Prasad is an idiot.
You see, H5N1 viruses love to bind to α2,3-linked sialic acid receptors which are AMPLY expressed (a fancy way of saying they are everywhere) in the human intestine.

/+ academic.oup.com/jid/article-ab…Image
Although this information came from an autopsy of an H5N1 victim, I am in no way wishing the same on him.

Just offering to grant unto him that which he wishes.

/+ Human gut amply express the right receptors.

It doesn't get much more macho or conservative than the Marines. Nice of them to demonstrate even cotton masks reduce disease transmission in November 2024.

They require masks in Phase 1, because they have new recruits gathered together.

/+ mcrdsd.marines.mil/Graduation/Gra…All personnel must wear a mask while indoors at the Branch Medical Clinic and the Branch Dental Clinic. All Recruits must wear masks during Phase 1 of Recruit Training
Here's a video of them marching in September 2024.

/+

As you can tell from below, masking is important for ALL military personnel, NOT JUST RECRUITS, when COVID cases go to HIGH.

This makes sense - we want our military healthy and ready to defend us.

/+ On Aug. 11, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) COVID-19 Community Level for San Diego decreased to 'MEDIUM'. As of Aug. 11, all vaccinated personnel on Camp Pendleton are no longer required to wear a mask in indoor facilities.

"Dental cavities are an infectious, transmissible disease."

Whoa - that caught my eye. Diving in, a bacteria is involved:
Mutans Streptococci (MS).

MS & C albicans often team up - and that REALLY caught my eye.

C. albicans is airborne.

🧵 pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC66…S mutans eventually penetrates the enamel.
Before going on - the impact is HUGE. 👇

cdc.gov/nccdphp/priori…

And, #DYK that dental cavities is the most common CHRONIC DISEASE for kids? 👇 👇

medicine.iu.edu/blogs/pediatri…

Who has been ranting about chronic disease, @realLandsEnd @avierkant ?

open.spotify.com/episode/3J9hUb… Annual costs for dental care in the United States is $136 billion.4A On average, over 34 million school hours are lost each year because of unplanned (emergency) dental care.5 Almost $46 billionB is lost in productivity in the United States each year because of untreated oral disease.6 In 2017, there were 2.1 million emergency room visits for dental emergencies. Medicaid pays for about 69% of these visits for children and about 40% for adults.7
The most common chronic disease is cavities.
Who has promised to get chronic disease reduced measurably within two years by the order of TFG?

RFK. He is going to do so by putting infectious disease research on hold for 8 hours.

And removing fluoride. RFK reporting Trump wanted him to end chronic disease within two years.
Why Kennedy Sees an 'Epidemic' of Chronic Disease Among Children Trends in child health are in fact worrisome, and scientists welcome a renewed focus on foods and environmental toxins. But vaccines and fluoride are not the cause.

Thank you very much, Dr. Stone for laying out this 20 hour meeting so very clearly and concisely!

The HICPAC voted to deny HCWs N95s, deny ALL the protection of universal source control, and have HCW illness time to be so short as to be GUARANTEED to bring more LongCovid.

/1
We can see their lies by just looking at just a few seconds of one doctor's testimony.

To wit:
Doctors don't need N95s because the room has a PPE note on it.

But, after asking a few questions, they go get better PPE.

Here it is
Erica Shenoy, MD, PhD, Chief of Infection Control at Mass General Brigham, and a prominent committee voice who has published against masking in healthcare settings, argued that wearing an N95 respirator for initial patient contact was excessive. She told the committee that her practice is to go into a patient's room (without a respirator), ask a few questions, and then determine the level of protection needed. I understand that since I sometimes did the same—but that was long ago, and when I suspected my exposure would be minimal during that brief period.
To me, this is just a massive self-own by Harvard's Dr. Shenoy. She is too intelligent to be stupid, so this must be deliberate obtuseness.

Let's ignore her condescending tone (she was addressing a fellow HCW who knows exactly what the process is), and look at the facts.

Zombie Deers. Chronic Wasting Disease. Misfolded PRIONS in the brain - like Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans.

✅ In 35 states.
✅ Incredibly stable in the environment.
✅ Highly contagious.

They are not sure how it's transmitted.

It's airborne. Can Rudolph infect Santa?

Fascinating educational article about vaccines and the immune system.

And this was an interesting bit -
Bacterial and viral infections predispose to other infections.

Get the flu? You are at greater risk for pneumococcal pneumonia.
/1 Bacterial and viral infections, on the other hand, often predispose children and adults to severe, invasive infections with other pathogens. For example, patients with pneumococcal pneumonia are more likely to have had a recent influenza infection than matched controls.62 Similarly, varicella infection increases susceptibility to group A-hemolytic streptococcal infections such as necrotizing fasciitis, toxic shock syndrome, and bacteremia.63
Those 👇 post influenza infection effects look familiar.

Where have I seen those types of symptoms before?

COV_D. Which we are getting every year, unlike the flu which is every 5-6 years.

Anywho.....

wellesu.com/10.1086/313772The theoretical bases for susceptibility to bacterial pneumonia following influenza infection are plentiful and include decreases in the function of polymorphonuclear leukocytes, macrophages, lymphocytes, and monocytes; increases in the adherence of bacteria to the respiratory epithelium; and decreased mucociliary clearance [14–19]. In studies of pneumococcal pneumonia in mice and squirrel monkeys, greater severity of disease and mortality resulted from infections due to pneumococcus and influenza virus together than from infections of either organism alone [20–21]. These animal studies sup...
Varicella (chickenpox)? Leads to Group A-hemolytic Streptococcal infection. Known affectionately as GAS, and exhibiting as
necrotizing fascitis.

researchgate.net/publication/12…VZV infection itself may cause a predisposing immune aberration or may allow invasion via another less apparent portal, such as lesions on the oral mucosa or the respiratory tract. In favor of an immune aberration is the fact that NF, the most severe manifestation of soft tissue infection, tended to occur more commonly in association with chickenpox than in nonchickenpox cases. Furthermore, Fujimara et al33 have presented evidence of a switch of the CD41 T cell profile in patients with varicella and underlying atopic dermatitis from a TH2 toaTH1 dominant type with a relative immunosuppressi...
