That would be approximately 16,000 hospitalizations (in just one week) if we scale to full vaccination (no boosters) of the child population. This number is far more than all hospitalizations of children *with* COVID-19 in 2020, which was roughly 12,000.
The most vaccinated state in the U.S., Vermont, is the one that has ZERO pediatric hospital stays for COVID-19 in 2020.

More from that source: It looks like around 60% of those COVID-19 hospitalizations were not primarily COVID-19, so perhaps the number should be 4,800 COVID-19 hospitalizations? (CA shown below, but others look similar)
Suppose that at the end of 2020, 70% of the nation remained unexposed. That would mean that the maximum number of remaining hospitalizations for children would be (70)*4,800/(30) = 11,200, all other things being equal and 100% exposure reached.

It is noteworthy that few of these states report their trends to HCUP through any or much of 2021 for children. Why not? And how can the CDC even pretend to have enough data to make decisions?
