With mounting bills and unstable streams of income due to the pandemic, many people are worrying about money more than they ever have before. Not just in terms of financial planning, but in being able to survive day to day. buzzfeednews.com/article/shanno… Image
Andrea LaRue, a 36-year-old director of sales at a hotel in Michigan, has two children who both required hospital visits over the past year, costing her almost $10,000. She says her family struggles to keep their head above water. buzzfeednews.com/article/shanno… Image
Some people have worried less about money since the start of the pandemic. Chelsea Green had close to $80,000 in credit card debt and student loans. But when the federal freeze on loan payments began, she continued to pay her balance down. buzzfeednews.com/article/shanno…
A study on American household debt from NerdWallet found that 35% of Americans say their financial situation has worsened over the past year; 21% of that group cited job loss as the major factor. buzzfeednews.com/article/shanno…
A quarter of Americans say their finances have improved over the past year, while 40% have seen their finances remain stable.

But even those who are in a good place with saving and spending are worried about their financial future.

Many people have found themselves in a sort of financial existential limbo, not fully in either the responsible saving or reckless spending camp, but somewhere in between. buzzfeednews.com/article/shanno… Image
What unites people throughout these different demographics and personality types is a mounting sense of uneasiness, or even dread as it relates to money and what the future looks like. buzzfeednews.com/article/shanno… Image
