@GovAbbott 3. A group called @TXCompetes, which represents 1400 businesses including @Amazon, @Microsoft, @United, and @Dell, released a statement saying they are "gravely concerned" about Abbott's order and "oppose any attempts to separate loving families"
4. Some members of @TXCompetes, however, are donors to Abbott and Attorney General @KenPaxtonTX, who issued an opinion that formed the basis for Abbott's order.
We reached out to these corporations to see if they'd continue supporting Abbott and Paxton
7. Other corporations headquartered in Texas, like @ATT, are not members of @TXCompetes
@ATT did sign a separate national statement by @HRC stating their "clear opposition to harmful legislation aimed at restricting the access of LGBTQ people in society"
10. So far we have seen broad corporate statements but little to no action by these corporations. So there is really no pressure on Abbott or Paxton to back off.

School administrators attempted to CONFISCATE the pride flags
The protest was PRE-APPROVED by the school, which allowed the students 15 minutes. Administrators first threatened to discipline students who didn’t hand over the pride flags. Then they tried to end the protest after 7 minutes.
UPDATE: Last June, @kroger CEO Rodney McMullin said that "a little bit of inflation is always good in our business" and imposed a series of price hikes.
McMullin was right.
Kroger just reported an operating profit of $3.5 BILLION for 2021
@kroger In other words, consumers did not pay higher prices @kroger simply because costs were going up. They paid higher prices to create enormous profits for the corporation. The markups exceeded any cost increases.
REMINDER: @kroger canceled its $2/hour hazard pay on May 17, 2020 -- JUST SIX WEEKS AFTER IT WAS PUT INTO PLACE.
Since then, Kroger workers have been working in a deadly pandemic with no hazard pay, generating billions in profits
2. Trouble started in January when, at a Senate hearing, history teacher Matt Bockenfeld objected to a provision requiring him to be "impartial" about all subjects.
He said he was teaching about the rise of Nazism and would not be neutral about Nazis
3. Senator @ScottABaldwin, the bill's author, told Bockenfeld he needed to be "impartial" when teaching Nazism and shouldn't "take a position" on Nazis.
Outrage ensued and the committee canceled their vote.
