Israel's IDF says that on two consecutive days Israelis have been stabbed at a shop(s) just outside of Hizme checkpoint;
This is a village that abuts the separation fence and some people shop there and get gas because ostensibly its cheaper then inside the checkpoint.
"IDF: Yesterday (Wednesday) during the afternoon, an Israeli civilian arrived at the Hizma checkpoint with stab wounds, claiming he was stabbed in the village of Hizma. The civilian was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment."
"In addition, earlier today a report was received regarding a second civilian who arrived at the Hizma checkpoint with stab wounds. The civilian received first aid at the scene and was evacuated to a hospital for further medical treatment. "
"Initial investigation into the reports reveal that in both cases the civilians entered a shop in the village, were attacked from behind, and stabbed in their upper body."

Thread: Russia clearly used the Syrian war as preparation for war on Ukraine. Remember how Russia went into Crimea in 2014 and into the Donbas via support for separatists...and then paused and intervened in Syria in 2015. As Syria wound down as major conflict, it planned Ukraine
NOW...what's interesting is the outrage and international consensus about Russia's actions in Ukraine are clear; but the international community should have been as outraged about Syria and has it been it might have prevented the invasion of Ukraine.
Why? Because Russia's leader felt he had impunity after Syria. He believed that while some western media will shout about Russia's actions; overall the international community won't do much and a divided West will prefer to "engage" and do endless JohnKerry-style diplomacy

Huge war Europe? ✅
Country of 40 million invaded? ✅
Millions fleeing? ✅

Some media: Let’s find a way to blame Israel and shift focus to Israel…
And they do this with no other country. Qatar is a major non-NATO ally of the US and there is no obsessive commentary looking at its role.

And unlike in Qatar, large numbers of Israelis have backed Ukraine. But you wouldn’t know that from media that claims Israel isn’t.
This is an example of entrenched antisemitism. Nothing else explains the obsessive attempt to shift focus to Israel, a country far from the conflict that has no connection to it.

Imagine all this obsessive coverage of Tunisia’s portion on Ukraine.

I'm disgusted by the war in Ukraine and Russia's unprovoked attack on a peaceful country; but I think this may be a bit much...banning Paralympic athletes.

Russia's actions are awful, but not sure Paralympic athletes are really a good focus. How about helping Ukraine more instea
I could be wrong here, but aren't there countries doing awful things, as awful as Russia is doing in Ukraine, and their athletes were able to go to the Olympics. I mean Russia bombed Syria for years and no one seemed to care, right?
I'd be interested to hear what other athletes think of these kinds of decisions, Paralympic athletes especially. I'm for isolated Russia in international forums and other places that make sense. But I wonder about things like art or sport being fair or good targets.

🧵 I’m seeing some of the same talking points about Ukraine that we saw during the Iran deal lead-up…the false dichotomy of “either a deal or war”…in Ukraine the argument is if the West “escalates” or threatens “nuclear armed” Russia then there could be “war” and “WWIII”…
But this is a false narrative. Russia started the war…just like Iran is the one enriching uranium. Both of them can simply stop and be peaceful. So if you challenge them you’re not the warmonger…THEY ARE the warmongers who began it
Second, it’s false to pretend that any western intervention in Ukraine “risks war with nuclear armed Russia”…the West has every right to be in Ukraine as Russia, it is Russia that is attempting to oppose a no-fly zone NOT the West.

The #DroneWars; the ability of Ukraine to apparently keep its armed drones in the air is very important. Of course it would be good to know eventually more specifics about this; but if it’s happening as reported it’s quite extraordinary
The reason it’s extraordinary is because the Bayraktar is not particularly fast and it’s is vulnerable to air defense but it has shown an ability to get around Russian-made defenses in Syria and Libya.
Considering Russia bragging about controlling the air, Moscow’s inability to stop the drone threat says a lot. Big question is about how much munitions Ukraine has for the drones and can it keep them safe and flying.

It appears that what began as wishful thinking by Moscow that they believed their own propaganda of being able to roll into Ukraine and be greeted…that since they weren’t welcomed they will destroy the country
The massive lie peddled by some pro-Moscow voices is that Ukraine was a “threat” to Russia…that it has to be a “buffer” between NATO and the West and if 40 million people don’t agree to be a penniless “buffer” then they have to be crushed like Stalin and Hitler did.
Of course they are resisting but they deserve better than this. They deserve billions to rebuild and defenses to stop this illegal onslaught
