Greetings from Fairfax. George Mason (14-14, 7-8 A-10) playing host to Massachusetts (13-16, 6-11) in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Mason starters: Hartwell, Cooper, Buchanan, Schwartz, Oduro

UMass starters: Fernandes, Kelly, Weeks Jr., Buttrick, Steadman

Officials: Tony Crisp, Michael Luckie, Mike Millione
Under-16. Massachusetts 11-5.

Rich Kelly with five points for the Minutemen, who are 5/11 from the floor and have forced three turnovers in the opening minutes.
With Fordham's 70-66 defeat of George Washington, George Mason will be either the No. 7 seed (with a win) or the No. 9 seed (with a loss) in the A-10 tournament.
Under-12 via a UMass timeout as it struggles to inbound it. Minutemen 18-14.

Noah Fernandes with seven points for UMass, which already has six offensive rebounds.

Ticket Gaines with a four-point play for George Mason.
"HEY REF" guy is heard from for the first time with less than nine minutes to go.

As per usual, he appears under the delusion the game officials value his input.
Under-8. George Mason 25-20.

Gaines has eight for the Patriots, who are on a 15-2 run.
Mason timeout, 1:09 left in the half. Patriots 41-33.

Gaines has 11 points on 3/3 FG (2/2 3FG).
HALFTIME: George Mason 41, Massachusetts 33.

Ticket Gaines with 11 points and D'Shawn Schwartz has 8/5/3 for the Patriots, who have long since erased an early seven-point hole.

Noah Fernandes and Rich Kelly have nine points each for the Minutemen.
Points per possession ...

George Mason: 1.21 (41 points/34 trips)
Massachusetts: 1.00 (33 points/33 trips)
Mason timeout with exactly 16:00 left, with a 48-40 lead.

Patriots taking advantage of a leaky UMass defense, connecting on 55.2 percent of its field goal attempts on the day. Gaines and Schwartz with 11 points each.
Under-12 via a George Mason timeout. Patriots 52-47, but UMass has rattled off the last five points.

Mason is scoreless for the last 2:51.
Under-8. George Mason and Massachusetts tied at 54. It's a 12-2 run for the Minutemen, who have gotten 17/4/2 from Fernandes.

Oduro has 11 points and the Patriots' only bucket in the last 6:12.
Under-4 in Fairfax for the final time this season. Massachusetts 64-61.

Fernandes up to 19 points for the Minutemen.

Schwartz has 16/6/3 for George Mason, which is on the wrong end of a 22-9 run over the last 10 minutes.
UMass timeout, 1:19 to go. Minutemen 68-66 behind Fernandes' 23 points.

Mason with 25 points in 28 possessions this half against the A-10's least efficient defense. Patriots just haven't gotten it done at the offensive end since the break.
Mason's DeVon Cooper makes a pair of foul shots to tie it at 68 with 1:06 to go.
Mason's Xavier Johnson misses a 3, and a couple guys go for the rebounds. There's 5.2 seconds left in a tie game, so you know where the men in stripes are headed: #ToTheMonitor.
Mason ball with 5.7 seconds left. Chance to win it without bonus basketball.
Schwartz misses a corner 3, and now it's time for an officials' huddle. UMass got the rebound and there was contact on the roughly 55-footer attempted near the buzzer.

Off #ToTheMonitor yet again.
I thought in real time the shot wasn't taken in time ... but was there contact beforehand? Not so sure.

An inebriated fan in the row behind me is fully certain. But I can't say I am.
BONUS BASKETBALL IN FAIRFAX.

Mason is 2-1 in OT this season (lost to Saint Louis, beat Richmond and Saint Joe's).

Massachusetts is 2-0 in OT this season (beat UNC Greensboro and Fairfield).
UMass timeout, 1:25 to go in OT. Mason 77-76.

Patriots get a 3 from Cooper, and Fernandes responds in kind at the other end.

Schwartz with 21/6/4 for Mason. Fernandes with a career-high 28 points for the Minutemen.
UMass gets a Trent Buttrick jumper, and after an Oduro miss, Rich Kelly makes the first of two foul shots.

UMass 79-77, 19.3 seconds left in OT. Mason timeout, with another Kelly free throw to come.
Oduro misses a layup, and Buttrick misses the first of two free throws.

Mason burns its last timeout with 8.3 seconds to go. Massachusetts 80-77, with a foul shot to come.
Cooper hits a 3 to bring Mason within 81-80, 1.6 seconds left.

Referee Mike Milione thought Kim English said "time out" and English insists he said "take out." So it's a technical foul on Mason.

UMass foul shot and possession coming.
FINAL: Massachusetts 83, George Mason 80.

Noah Fernandes scores 28 points and Rich Kelly adds 18 for the Minutemen (14-16, 7-11 A-10).

D'Shawn Schwartz had 21 points for the Patriots (14-15, 7-9).
Make that 20 for Kelly. Either way, the Minutemen win back-to-back games to close out the regular season.

Friday's updated field of 68 for @PostSports takes a look at maybe the most unexpected quirk of the Coach K farewell tour: The Blue Devils might actually end up a tad underseeded thanks in part to the state of their league.

As a side note, it's been a loooooong time since Duke beat a higher-seeded team in the NCAA tournament.

Like Grant Hill vs. Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson a long time ago.

In fairness, it is difficult to beat higher-seeded teams when you're usually a No. 1 seed yourself.
K's NCAA victories with a lower-seeded Duke team:

1988: 2 over 1/Temple (E8)
1989: 2 over 1/Georgetown (E8)
1990: 3 over 1/Connecticut (E8)
1991: 2 over 1/UNLV (F4)
1994: 2 over 1/Purdue (E8)

Had a few stray thoughts from Delaware-Mount St. Mary's last night that no one was going to see while tweeted during Game 7 of the WS. ...
1. Mount redshirt freshman Jonah Antonio is going to take (and make) a bunch of 3s this year. Had 14 FGA last night, 13 from 3. Made six.
2. Might be a while before Chris Wray is back from injury. He isn't the Mount's best scorer, but he is the team's most important player.
