Greetings from Southeast D.C. Settled in courtside for the CAA quarterfinals at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Top-seeded Towson (24-7) opens its tournament against ninth-seeded Northeastern (9-21). Huskies only won two CAA games, but one of them was against Towson.
Towson starters: Gibson, Rizzuto, Timberlake, Holden, Thompson

Northeastern starters: Walters, Emanga, Telfort, Djogo, Doherty

Officials: Clarence Armstrong, Brian Dorsey, Tony Henderson
Under-16. Towson 2-0.

Jason Gibson has the only bucket of the game so far.

Northeastern is 0/7 from the floor with four turnovers.
I'm setting the over/under on the number of times a pep band plays Cascada's "Everytime We Touch" during today's four games at 3.5.

Northeastern's band check Box No. 1 right out of the chute at the under-16 of the first half.

cc: @EmilyGiam
Under-12. Northeastern 8-4.

Chris Doherty with four points for the Huskies.

Towson is 2/10 from the field, 0/6 from 3 and is scoreless for the last 3:12. Tigers look super-tight at the offensive end.
Northeastern pushes its lead to 16-6, and Towson calls timeout with 9:04 left in the first half.

The CAA's top seed is inching closer to the danger zone against the ninth-seeded Huskies.
Under-8. Northeastern 16-8.

Jason Strong with five points off the bench for the Huskies.

Towson is 4/16 on field goals, 0/7 from 3, and has one offensive rebound to Northeastern's 12 defensive rebounds.
Under-4 via a Northeastern timeout. Towson 25-24.

It's a 10-0 run for the Tigers, with Terry Nolan Jr. and Cam Holden both scoring five points in the spurt.
HALFTIME: Northeastern 28, Towson 27.

Chris Doherty has nine points for the Huskies, who have a 16-12 edge in the paint.

Cam Holden has 11 points for the Tigers, who have trailed by as many as 10.
Towson has figured things out. An 11-2 run out of the locker room --- with Nicolas Timberlake providing eight of those points --- puts the Tigers up 38-30.

Danger zone for Northeastern, which calls timeout with 16:45 to go.
Under-16. Towson 38-32.

Tigers are piling up fouls pretty quickly this half. Just collected their fifth to bring on the timeout. Only player with three is reserve big Chase Paar.
Under-12. Towson 45-38.

Timberlake up to 13 points for the Tigers.

Towson big Charles Thompson hasn't played this half. He was limping a bit in the first half, and the Tigers are going to need him to make a deep run this week.
Under-8. Towson 53-44.

Timberlake has 16 points and Holden has 14 for the Tigers, who responded to Northeastern getting within six by uncorking a five-point possession (Timberlake 3, foul off-ball, Holden bucket).

Juwan Gray has six points and six rebounds in 11 big minutes.
Under-4 via a Towson timeout. Tigers 58-53, but Northeastern has scored the last six points to tighten things for the end-game.

Nicolas Timberlake has 17 of his 19 points in the second half for Towson. Chris Doherty had 13 points and eight boards for the Huskies.
This is the time to remind everyone that in leagues where only team gets an NCAA bid, style points go out the window in the league tournament.

It's especially true for a program like Towson, which is 31 years removed from its last NCAA trip.
Somebody in the 10-team league who wasn’t invited to D.C. was also removed from the in-arena graphics this week.
Towson 58-57, 1:40 to go. Northeastern on a 10-0 run, and the Tigers are scoreless for the last 4:12.

I don't think 58 points is going to get it done.

Officials have made the trek #ToTheMonitor for the first time, determining Towson retains possession after its latest miss.
Big bucket for Chase Paar with 1:31 to go. He's playing more minutes with Charles Thompson sitting this half.

Chris Doherty fouls out with 1:04 after a Northeastern miss, and Towson heads to the line up 60-57.
And the foul was reviewed with Trip No. 2 #ToTheMonitor.

A common foul leads to two Holden free throws and Towson's up 62-57, 1:04 to go.
Northeastern timeout, 23.9 seconds to go. Towson 64-59.

It comes down to free throws from here for the Tigers. They're 13/17 at the line today.
Timberlake's two free throws get Towson's lead back to five, 66-61, 14.2 seconds to go. Tigers timeout.

Timberlake now has 23 points, all but two since the break.
FINAL: Towson 68, Northeastern 61.

Nicolas Timberlake scores 25 points and Cam Holden adds 18 for the top-seeded Tigers (25-7), who will face Delaware or Drexel tomorrow at 6 p.m.

Big question is the health of forward Charles Thompson, who didn't play in the second half.
Chris Doherty's 13 points led four in double figures for the ninth-seeded Huskies (9-22), who close out an unusually down season.
That's the first conference tournament victory for the Tigers since the 2017 CAA quarterfinals ... also against Northeastern.

Only Towson's second conference tournament victory since 2014.
Towson coach Pat Skerry says Charles Thompson has an ankle injury.

Remains to be seen if he’s ready for tomorrow.

Friday's updated field of 68 for @PostSports takes a look at maybe the most unexpected quirk of the Coach K farewell tour: The Blue Devils might actually end up a tad underseeded thanks in part to the state of their league.

As a side note, it's been a loooooong time since Duke beat a higher-seeded team in the NCAA tournament.

Like Grant Hill vs. Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson a long time ago.

In fairness, it is difficult to beat higher-seeded teams when you're usually a No. 1 seed yourself.
K's NCAA victories with a lower-seeded Duke team:

1988: 2 over 1/Temple (E8)
1989: 2 over 1/Georgetown (E8)
1990: 3 over 1/Connecticut (E8)
1991: 2 over 1/UNLV (F4)
1994: 2 over 1/Purdue (E8)

Greetings from Annapolis. A Patriot League quarterfinal between second-seeded Navy (19-10) and 10th-seeded American (10-21) is coming up at 7 p.m.

Midshipmen can secure their second 20-win season in the last 22 years with a victory.
Navy starters: Inge, Yoder, Carter Jr., Nelson, Njoku

American starters: Stephens, Smalls, Beckton Jr., O'Neil, Rogers

Officials: Dwayne Gladden, Wally Rutecki Jr., Michael Luckie
Under-16. American 14-7.

The Eagles had 14 points in the entire first half when these teams last met on Feb. 16, so things are going really swimmingly for them so far.

Had a few stray thoughts from Delaware-Mount St. Mary's last night that no one was going to see while tweeted during Game 7 of the WS. ...
1. Mount redshirt freshman Jonah Antonio is going to take (and make) a bunch of 3s this year. Had 14 FGA last night, 13 from 3. Made six.
2. Might be a while before Chris Wray is back from injury. He isn't the Mount's best scorer, but he is the team's most important player.
