My YouTube channel makes over $130k each month from Adsense and sponsorships.

Our overall business revenue which includes courses, affiliate deals and products is over $350k per month.

It’s bloody ridiculous.

Here’s how you can monetise your passion too 👇
There are loads of ways to start making money on YouTube, but I found that these 6 are the best:

🎬 The YouTube Partner Program (YPP)
👯 Sponsorships
🔥 Affiliates
⭕️ Community Earnings
💻 Online Courses
👕 Merchandise

Let's break them down 👇🏼
🎬 1. The YouTube Partner Program (YPP)

There are 2 requirements you have to meet before qualifying for the program:

- 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months
- At least 1000 subscribers

Sounds easy but YouTube is hard.
How much can you expect to make from AdSense? 🤔

It depends.

YouTube pays about £1-2 ($2) per 1000 views

This number varies hugely based on:

- ⌚ Watch time
- 📏 Length of the video
- 🤳 Type of content produced
This isn't a get-rich-quick scheme.

I made 77 videos before I could turn monetisation on.

And in 10 months I’d made an admittedly pathetic total of £1.96 ($2.70).

But the wait was totally worth it.

In 2021, I made over £330,000 ($440,000) from AdSense 💸
👯 2. Sponsorships

This is where brands pay creators a lump sum in exchange for a mention or product placement in a video.

They can also offer a bonus or reward for additional video engagement or sales.

But landing a brand deal can take time 👇
My first sponsored video came one year after starting on YouTube.

At the time, I'd created nearly 150 videos and had around 50,000 subscribers.

So to say it's tough at the start is an understatement.
How much can you expect to make through sponsorships? 🤔

There’s no simple answer to this.

But I'll try my best:

If you want to land a brand deal, you should charge £15-20 ($20-30) CPM.

In other words, per 1000 video views you can expect to make between £15 and £20.

👇🏼
So if you normally get 100,000 views on a video, you should be charging £1500-2000 ($2000-$3000).

But this isn't a hard and fast rule.

The biggest YouTubers make well over £70,000 ($100,000) per video.

That's pretty insane.
🔥 3. Affiliates

This is something that we can start earning relatively soon once you've built an audience who knows, likes and trusts YOU.
The idea is that companies provide a small commission for driving sales of their product or service.

The more sales you drive, the more money you’ll ultimately make in return.
My tip → start small.

Try opting for a few affiliate programs like the Amazon one.

As your audience grows (and more people know, like and trust you), so will your earnings 🏦
Once you build your audience and reputation, you can reach out to bigger brands offering larger commissions.

In 2020 my affiliate income from my top 5 affiliate partnerships was bigger than the money I made from AdSense (£130,000 vs. £100,000).
How much can we expect to make from affiliates? 🤔

The average affiliate commission rate sits around 5-25%.

👉 Earnings = commission earned per sale x number of expected sales
⭕️ 4. Community Earnings

Once you build a sizeable audience, it's possible to make money creating a community space for them to engage and interact with exclusive content.

I’ve not done this (yet 👀) but one of the most popular methods of doing this is using Patreon.
How much can we expect to earn from our community? 🤔

Take Patreon as an example:

If 1-5% of fans become members paying an average of £5 ($7), you could estimate this:

30,000 followers = somewhere between £200 and £1000 ($300-1500) per month.
💻 5. Online Courses

As creators, you can capitalise on sharing your knowledge.

I've found there are 3 great ways to do this:

- Skillshare classes
- Self-hosted online courses
- Live cohort-based courses
How much can you expect to earn from online courses? 🤔

It depends on:

- How much you charge
- The size of your audience
- The conversion rate

Revenue = Number of your Audience x Conversion Rate x Price of the Course
Lastly, we have swag.

With an audience who like, know and trust you, they’ll also be down to buy some merch in some type of form to show that they’re a part of your community.
We’ve recently launched Essentiali which is my stationary brand and there’s so much potential for other items to sell too.

Here’s 12 books every YouTuber should read in 2022 👇
'Anything You Want’ by Derek Sivers 🎸

If you’re looking for a little inspiration and a massive boost of positive vibes, this (small-ish) book is a great reminder to keep going when things get tough.

I pick it back up whenever I feel imposter syndrome taking over.
‘The War of Art’ by Steven Pressfield 🎨

Half the battle is won before you even press ‘record’.

If you’re struggling with getting started on your YouTube channel, this book’s for you.

Whenever we launch a new cohort of the Part-Time YouTuber Academy, I'm excited to show our students just how much value we've packed in.

A core part of this is inviting other creators to guest speak on topics they're passionate about.

Here's some of what we've got lined up👇
When you click on a @Mrwhosetheboss video, you know you're going to find out the latest in tech while being wildly entertained. With over 10M subs on his channel, you’ll learn from Arun about “Script Writing for YouTube” when we kick off this March. Image
@Mrwhosetheboss Maven of minimalism @mattdavella is joining us this cohort for a “Deep Dive Into Filmmaking”. You might know him for his high production value and stoic productivity tips that he shares on his 3.3M sub YouTube Channel, or for his course, Slow Growth. Image

The most common question I get about my Part-Time YouTuber Academy is ‘why is it so expensive?’

But this course isn’t a bunch of pre-recorded clips or a set of PDFs.

It’s so much more.

This is what you’ll find inside 👇
👥 A fully-fledged team

Coming into the 5th cohort of PTYA, we’ve got tens of people working behind the scenes.

This includes the teachers like me, student supporters and folks who crunch data so we can offer you personalised support.
⚙️ The Infinite Content Engine

“ICE” is the system that I’ve created for my channel that I’ve used for the past 4 years.

It’s allowed me to grow from 0 to 2.7M subscribers while doing YouTube part-time and it’s exactly what I’m going to share with you.

Here’s 23 lessons to succeed on YouTube in 2022 👇
🥊 1. Doing YouTube is hard.

If you get into it cause you think it’ll be easy money, reconsider your options.

You’ll find yourself sacrificing a lot and learning new skills before you actually see any results.

You just need to be patient and ride that wave 🌊
🎨 2. Create, create, create.

Consistency is King.

Forget about trying to find a viral hit when you start out.

Instead, post 1 video per week consistently and your life will change.

Focus on getting better, not bigger. Growth comes over time.

It takes between 52 and 152 videos to get your first 1,000 subs on YouTube.

The trick to creating all these videos is making filming and editing as frictionless as possible.

Here’s how 👇
⌛ 1 - Consistency

The more you do something, the more it’ll become a habit.

All you really need to do is make one video per week. That’s it.

Focus on this week’s video, then move onto the next, before you know it you’ll be on a roll.
🏋️‍♂️ 2 - Low Lift Content

If you’re in this for the right reasons, you’ll probably be bursting at the seams with video ideas.👇

Getting started on YouTube is easier now than ever before.

With a bunch of free tools, a positive mindset and consistency, here’s why you can become a YouTuber in 2022 👇
Content’s easy to create 🎬

Smartphones have lowered the barrier to entry.

Most phones have good camera quality (at least to start with) and there’s a bunch of free tools to use to improve the quality (if you want to).
Free tools 🆓

‘I need to buy X and Y programmes to make it as a YouTuber’.

Nope - there are a ton of free tools to use if you know where to look. Just Google ‘Free Video Editing Software’ and work from there.
