Here’s 12 books every YouTuber should read in 2022 👇
'Anything You Want’ by Derek Sivers 🎸
If you’re looking for a little inspiration and a massive boost of positive vibes, this (small-ish) book is a great reminder to keep going when things get tough.
I pick it back up whenever I feel imposter syndrome taking over.
‘The War of Art’ by Steven Pressfield 🎨
Half the battle is won before you even press ‘record’.
If you’re struggling with getting started on your YouTube channel, this book’s for you.
The Motivation Myth’ by Jeff Haden 🏃
YouTube can take up a lot of time and energy.
The Motivation Myth focuses on a positive mindset where we focus on enjoying the process behind what we do.
This has been key for me enjoying YouTube for 4 years.
‘Getting Things Done’ by David Allen 💪
If you’re a big procrastinator or somebody who wants to be more productive, GTD is often quoted as the greatest productivity book of all time.
👆One of my favourite quotes ***“Your mind is for having ideas, not for holding them”*** changed the way I store my video ideas.
‘Show Your Work!’ by Austin Kleon 📖
This is one of my all-time favourite books. It breaks down 10 rules to become more creatively productive and ‘discoverable’ as a creator.
You could read this in a couple of hours too.
‘Steal like an Artist’ by Austin Kleon (again, what a guy) 🥷
There always seems to be this anxiety about needing to be original with content. Austin basically say this is a myth and everyone’s always ‘stolen’ ideas from each other and reworked them into their own content.
If you’re struggling for ideas or worried about being original, read this👆.
‘Storyworthy’ by Matthew Dicks 📜
Before I started YouTube I didn’t appreciate the power of storytelling but telling stories and creating narratives is really important.
I learned everything I know about storytelling from this book and Matthew even coached me for a few months last year.
‘The 4-Hour Work Week’ by Tim Ferriss ⏱️
I’ve mentioned this more times than I can remember so I won’t bang on about it. In brief, this book changed my life.
‘The E-Myth Revisited’ by Michael Gerber 📈
As your channel grows, you’ll need to consider outsourcing and maybe even building a team.
E-Myth is all about moving away from being the doer (the “Technician”) towards being more of the visionary (the “Entrepreneur”).
‘Crush It!’ by Gary Vaynerchuck 👊
Gary flipped his family’s wine store into a $60 million business and now has a media empire (you might’ve heard him mention it 😉).
If you want to learn how to grow your brand, worth picking this up.
‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear 🖊️
If you’ve not read this by now, make it a priority. It’s become the go-to book on habits and behavioural change. In the book, James shares a great breakdown of 4 laws for sustaining success and that’s to make whatever you’re doing...
1. Obvious 2. Attractive 3. Easy 4. Satisfying

‘Primal Branding’ by Patrick Hanlon 👨👦
Branding isn’t just for companies like Apple, it’s really important on YouTube too. It’s key to creating loyal communities and cultures.
This book made me appreciate the importance of branding and accelerated the growth of my channel.
Going to grab one of these books?
Or maybe I’ve missed your favourite...

Whenever we launch a new cohort of the Part-Time YouTuber Academy, I'm excited to show our students just how much value we've packed in.
A core part of this is inviting other creators to guest speak on topics they're passionate about.
Here's some of what we've got lined up👇
When you click on a @Mrwhosetheboss video, you know you're going to find out the latest in tech while being wildly entertained. With over 10M subs on his channel, you’ll learn from Arun about “Script Writing for YouTube” when we kick off this March.
@Mrwhosetheboss Maven of minimalism @mattdavella is joining us this cohort for a “Deep Dive Into Filmmaking”. You might know him for his high production value and stoic productivity tips that he shares on his 3.3M sub YouTube Channel, or for his course, Slow Growth.
