Sometimes the simplest things make a huge difference.
Increase your conversions by following these simple *CHECKOUT PAGE TWEAKS* 🧵
#1 - Go to Shopify Themes → Edit code
Go to your Shopify themes and click on “edit code”. Then, choose “Checkout & System”.
#2 - Change the “Pay Now” button
Scroll down to the “Checkout general” section and find the “Pay Now” button label. Now, change the text from “Pay Now” to something like “Complete Order” or “Finish Ordering”.
This sounds much more natural to people, similar to what Amazon uses.
#3 - Change the “Continue to payment method” button
Next, scroll down and find the “Continue to payment method” field.
Change the text to something that sounds more approachable such as “Payment Info” or similar.
You can add a truck emoji to lighten things up. Be creative.
#4 - Change the “Shipping default value”
The next thing you want to do is scroll down or use the search function to find the “Shipping default value” field.
Change the text here from “Calculate at next step” to simply “Free Shipping” to increase your conversions noticeably.
This will seriously decrease your customer bounce rate.
#5 - Add a countdown timer
By adding a countdown timer directly above the fold of your checkout page, you’ll create a sense of urgency in your customer.
Two ways to create urgency with the help of a countdown timer are:
- “XX time until you can lock these items at sale price” or
- “Only XX of this product left in storage”
#6 - Add a “Why Us” section
On the right-hand side of the checkout page, right under the order summary and total, there’s a lot of unused blank space. The perfect space to add a “guarantee” or “why us” section.
Here, you can add safety badges like:
- 100% money-back guarantee
- Track your order status
- 10,533 satisfied customers
- Worldwide shipping
Any type of social proof would work great here. It’s just the last push the customer needs to check out.
#7 - Add card “badges” (accepted payment methods)
Displaying several different accepted cards or payment methods demonstrates that your store is legit and has established payment gateways.
So, don’t forget to add all the accepted payment methods at your checkout page - VISA, MasterCard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shopify Payments, list it all. It only adds trust!
#8 - Links to important store documentation
Another thing that builds trust with your customers just before checkout is displaying links to your Privacy Policy, Shipping Information, Return & Refund Policy, and FAQs.
These links should be visible on every store page, but they’re vital on your checkout page.
#9 - Enable guest checkout
I wasn’t sure if I should mention this, but it’s so obvious that I couldn’t just leave it out. One of the biggest reasons for abandoned cards is the need for an account and the inability to checkout as a guest.
No matter what store builder you use, always have guest checkout enabled. You should be aiming to simplify the checkout process, not complicate it further.
#10 - Add your logo
This one should be a no-brainer, but just to put it out there.
Your checkout page looks much less scammy and more personalized and trustworthy if you simply upload your logo to be visible on top.
#11 - No surprise costs
If there’s one thing that’s a recipe for an abandoned carts disaster is hidden costs.
Free shipping or not, say it as it is! Customers usually don’t mind an added cost as long as they’re informed about it on time.
And no, on time isn’t after they’ve clicked checkout - it’s before!
As soon as they place a delivery address, your customer’s shopping cart total should always reflect the final price.
#12 - Use a live chat tool
Implementing live chat on your checkout page is a proven way to increase conversions.
With a live chat, customers that still have doubts and questions could get them cleared out on the spot.
A well-structured live chat can gently push the customer into making the right decision - completing the purchase.
#13 - Reduce checkout steps
Did you know that single-page checkout always outperforms multiple-page checkout?
If you can do that, great. If not, simply reduce the checkout steps. In your case, this can mean reducing the form fields a customer needs to fill out.
Just try to simplify the checkout process as much as possible.
#14 - Use save and autofill
Make it easier for customers to make repeat purchases by enabling autofill for their personal information or the option to save their card.
Google typically does this by default.
But, some people wouldn’t let Google save their card, but they wouldn’t mind you doing it. Adding features like these can streamline the shopping experience.

I share daily content about TikTok ads, dropshipping, and eCommerce.
New to TikTok?
Not sure of the competition?
Not sure if there’s a demand for your product?
This MASTER 🧵 is for all TikTok beginners (bookmark it for future reference).
I’ll teach you how to sniff out the competition and launch your first TikTok. Let’s get going!
So, the number one question (by far) that I’ve been getting lately is how to start on TikTok if you have no content and no followers yet. A blank slate.
So, what’s the first thing you should do?
1// Search your niche or product
No matter if it’s TikTok or another social platform, the first thing you want to do is check out your competitors.
On TikTok, the way to do that is by clicking on the search button (up right corner) and typing your product or niche. ⌨️
