Per the @TheStudyofWar map, the Russian advance continues to be slow. They have solidified their position outside of Kyiv, and fighting in the western suburbs is ongoing.
I will say, this map somewhat over represents the Russian control over areas in Ukraine. As we have seen, Ukrainian forces have been able to conduct a number of attacks behind Russian lines.
The ISW map is really good and well researched, I just have a small difference in opinion on how controlled areas should be represented. Not trying to roast anyone here.

Russian forces continue to consolidate their positions, but haven’t made any major offensives in the past few days. Ukrainian forces around Chernihiv risk encirclement at the moment as the Russians move east of Kyiv.
I expect the forces west of Kyiv will try to cut the city off from resupply, but the Ukrainians are using this period to stock up on munitions, including a number of ATGMs.
Lol, didn’t realize that @billroggio started a thread a half hour before me, go read it.
I know there are going to be a lot of those SimpsonUSSRjoke.gifs being posted about this, but the Russian government is currently trying to rally the people against a common enemy in order to prevent general unrest.
It’s great when you can just point at McDonald’s and say “bad western company” instead of admitting the mess of a war you started is having some pretty bad consequences.
