It looks like the aftermath of today's White House press briefing was VERY contentious.

AP's Josh Boak pulled the plug after only 39 mins b/c the AP gets that power.

No audio, but cameras showed reporters in the back were NOT happy, leading WHCA prez Steven Portnoy to stand up. ImageImageImageImage
The AP's Josh Boak quickly left, leaving CBS News Radio correspondent & White House Correspondents Association prez Steven Portnoy to deal with the room.

This went on for at least six minutes (as the camera feed cut out, but again, no audio). Some were taping it on their phones. ImageImageImage
NEWS from me: I've obtained audio of the post-briefing debate. Needless to say, if you're someone who cares about press access and has enjoyed watching The Psaki Show like I have, you're going to want to listen to this.

Stay tuned to @newsbusters for the audio and my full recap.
For the Psaki Show fans out there or interested in part of how the sausage is made, here're my post on what went down....

Fireworks: White House reporters get into tense debate over who does (and doesn't) get to ask questions newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/curti…

DOOCY: "Why did you guys decide to rebrand the rising gas prices as the #PutinPriceHike?"

Psaki: "I mean, if you want to use that on Fox, I welcome that."
Doocy to Psaki: "We have heard the President warn for months the gas prices were rising b/c of the supply chain & b/c of post-pandemic demand, if you guys knew for months that this was going to be the #PutinPriceHike, why are we just hearing that now?"
Doocy: "You and the President are both talking about producing energy here, saying...oil & gas companies have 9000 permits to drill now they could be drilling...Would [he] cut red tape to make that possible?"

Psaki: "What red tape needs to be cut when they have the permits?"

.@nypost's @stevennelson10 to Psaki: "Regarding the Florida bill, in 1994...President Biden actually voted for a much broader restriction that banned federal funds from being used for 'the promotion of homosexuality as a positive lifestyle'...why did he do that?"
Psaki on Florida's "gay" education bill: It "discriminate[s] against families, against kids put these kids in the position of not getting the support they need at a time where that's exactly what they need. It's discriminatory. It's a form of bullying. It is horrific."
.@nypost's @stevennelson10: "Was there a reason he supported the same policy, though, in the 90s when we were all in school?"

Psaki says "it's important...how outspoken" he's "been against" Florida's "misinformed, hateful policies" against the "LGBTQIA+ community"

DOOCY TIME: "It sound like you are blaming Putin for the increase in gas prices recently, but weren't gas prices going up anyway b/c of post-pandemic supply chain issues?"

Psaki says "there's no question that...the increase...is a direct result of the invasion of Ukraine."
Doocy: "[Y]ou say...you're going to do everything you can to reduce the impacts...high gas prices have...We're asking other countries to think about...pumping more oil. Why not just do it here?"

Psaki insists "federal policies are not limiting the supplies of oil & gas"
Psaki: "Let me finish."

Doocy: "An executive order, his first week halted new oil and gas leases on public land."

Psaki: "Let me give you the facts here & I know that can be inconvenient, but...they're important...There are 9,000 approved...permits...not being used."

RT is different than the other media fights. Why? Because it's government-funded and based on (a) spreading Putin's propaganda and (B) driving Americans apart by poking at and expanding wounds by portraying the U.S. as in disarray w/a corrupt system while ignoring Russia's record
And, while on the subject of government-funded media outlets....#DefundNPR

JACQUI TIME: "You just said...it's not in our strategic interest to reduce the supply, we also know [Biden]...talked about increasing domestic manufacturing to bring down prices on inflated items...Why not apply the same logic to energy and increase domestic production here?"
.@JacquiHeinrich: "Is there nothing that the administration could do to get those providers back to pre-pandemic levels?"

Psaki: "You think the oil companies don't have enough money to drill on the places that have been preapproved?"

Heinrich: "Just asking."
.@JacquiHeinrich: "Do you think that opening the Keystone pipeline and having more energy-friendly policies might do that?"

Psaki: "The Keystone pipeline has never been operational. It would take years for that to ever have any impact."

George Stephanopoulos: "The world is seeing civilians being killed in Ukraine by Russian bombs....The world is uniting to contend those attacks & those lies. How can you defend them?"

Russian FM Lavrov: "I cannot comment -- conjectures & there is a great deal of these now."
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov whines about the west shutting down Russian media outlets, such as RT: They're "trying to close down all of the outlets...broadcast from Russia on how...the Ukrainian army & neo-Nazis behave. They behave like...marauders"
Russia's Sergey Lavrov on ABC's @GMA: "I don't have enough time...to enumerate...the facts. Please visit our website...You will be able get a detailed description of what the Kyiv neo-Nazi regime is now doing. You like the word killer...Killers are siding with the Kyiv regime."
