On #InternationalWomensDay we would like to shine a light on our wonderful Librarian Prachi. She is eldest of six siblings. Her father is a street vendor & owing to her large family she needed to aid her parents. She has made many sacrifices for her family, one being leaving...
..her own education behind. This curious 19-year-old lives close to the library at Bansa and gradually became immensely attached to it. She began to use the responsibility of dropping and picking her sisters up from the library as an opportunity to visit–spent hours talking to...
....the former librarian, asking her questions about the functioning of the Library. Prachi also regularly asked her younger sisters about the ongoings of the library when she could not be here.
Fast forward to this day, she is currently the Head Librarian at BCL, along with....
....managing the Library and all its activities, she is also preparing for government competitive exams, giving in to her love for education, and aiming for success. Prachi has grown into a woman who is working hard towards her dream. Sometime back she didn't even step out of....
...the vicinity of village, but today she is a confident and responsible person; taking care of the Library, her own studies and siblings. She has learnt to use a computer and to take photographs and edit videos. A compassionate, enthusiastic, and caring individual, she's the...
... the backbone of Bansa Community Library. Prachi also stands as a true example of how libraries change worlds, be it your own. In such a place of warmth, freedom, and knowledge, one is bound to thrive.
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT
We are excited to announce that BCL is working in tandem with Gram Panchayat Bansa, & @HCL_Foundation in mobilizing, tutoring, and mentoring 30 Class 8 students from 4 govt schools of 3 villages with aim to crack the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship 2021.
This scholarship provides Rs 1000 per month to government school students who crack scholarship exam for the next 4 years. This amount is quite helpful in ensuring that students from disadvantaged & rural areas may continue their education comfortably & decreases no. of dropouts.
There have been only 3 scholars in the past 3 years who got selected. The situation is such that not all forms in the whole district would be filled in. We rewarded these 3 scholars at our Library on the occasion of Teacher's Day in order to motivate other students for this year.
