6 things I wish I knew when I was 15:

#WomensDay #WomensDay2022 #womenempowerment

A thread 🧵
1. The Power of being Independent:

Growing up we all have been subjected to first-hand discrimination in a patriarchal institution in some way or the other.

My mom always told me that being able to stand on your own feet is the greatest sense of empowerment.
2. Do not be an emotional fool:

My dad always used to tell me that I make decisions emotionally and it will have a grave impact in my life.

Always take your brain with you wherever you take your heart. Don't be emotionally invested with poor ROI.
3. Know your Worth:

As a teenager, I always questioned whether I was worth it.

Had I known the value I bring to the table, wouldn't have tolerated maltreatment and disrespect.

Now that I know what I am worth, I can never let someone control me that way ever again.
4. Be the Woman of the House:

There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise. - W. E. B. Dubois.

Nobody, and I repeat, NOBODY can stop you from climbing those ladders, smashing the glass ceiling, and challenging the status quo than you yourself.
5. Don't Choose Relationships over Career:

Was very young to understand that your relationship can soon become a fleeting memory but a dent on your career will significantly impact your life.

Choose a middle ground but never make career choices based on personal attachments.
6. Don't give yourself so much to someone that you lose your identity:

Becoming so attached to someone at a fragile age can be extremely harmful if you do not know the art of detachment.

Never lose yourself in the process of saving someone who is beyond repair. Never.
