!!!!ENDURANCE DISCOVERY ALERT!!!! Shackleton’s lost ship has been located - and the images are INCREDIBLE. Amazing achievement for @Endurance_22 team

@Endurance_22 The wreck was found just over 3,000m down in the Weddell Sea - just 7km from the coordinates recorded on the day the ship vanished beneath the ice more than 100 years ago #Endurance22

It’s condition is extraordinary - it looks like it has been frozen in time. You can see clear features - the wheel is almost pristine, bolts gleam from the wood and there’s even some discarded crockery on the deck #Endurance22 Image
More from me @alisonfrancis and @DuncanCStone on @BBCBreakfast and elsewhere on TV throughout the day - and from @BBCAmos here #Endurance22 bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…
You can see the INCREDIBLE footage here at the top of @BBCAmos story - it's a must watch #Endurance22 bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…

Start with having another look at the ***AMAZING*** footage from the dive - this is the piece that ran on BBC News made with top team @alisonfrancis and @DuncanCStone

And here is @thehistoryguy podcast - he was with the @endurance22 team when they made the discovery (the lucky devil!) - you can hear his take on it here podfollow.com/dan-snows-hist…

Chris Witty and Patrick Valence doing a science q&a now
Witty: We are dealing with uncertainty - have accelerated knowledge from virtually nothing in January to what we have now. But there are critical questions we don't know the answer to now - but we will know in 6/12 months. At this juncture we are using the best science we have.
Witty: Responding to criticism of policy - says different opinions are a good thing in science.
