There is a complete meltdown of the #left ecosystem in India with @SadhguruJV appearing on @Trevornoah's @TheDailyShow, talking about the #SaveSoil movement. The outpouring of hate for the man is weird to see and yet completely believable given the history of the Indian left.
It is hilarious to see many of them complaining about Trevor hosting Sadhguru and in the same breath speaking about the freedom of expression of individuals and how the left ecosystem is for providing equal opportunity to hear all voices.
And many of them claim to have a genuine concern for the environment as well. If you did not get the irony yet, you seriously need a college course in "Irony 101" :)
Let's look at some of the complaints.
#1: He went on a bike rally to save rivers and India's rivers are flowing again
Ha ha ha ... ok, now that the laughs are over, let's look at what the Rally For Rivers campaign was all about, once again.
#RallyForRivers was a public awareness campaign gaining with Sadhguru driving across India to get public backing and get the governments make changes to its policies towards river rejuvenation by submitting a policy recommendation to the Central & several state governments.
A few state governments like Karnataka, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, etc. have taken up the policy recommendations and are already implementing them on the ground to rejuvenate their rivers. The rally achieved what it set out to with the backing of over 16 crore people.
Have you heard of the Waghadi river rejuvenation project? If not, check that out. The Isha Outreach volunteers have done some fantastic groundwork coming up with agro models for the local farming community.
#2: Cauvery is saved now and he has moved onto saving the Soil
Yes, Cauvery is saved just because Sadhguru went on a rally.
If you seriously believe this statement or make a mockery of this - either way, you will be a dufus.
People need to understand that undoing the damage done to our rivers over several decades is not going to be easy. The call to save Cauvery river is actually about implementation & setting a proven model for rejuvenating rivers as per what the RFR policy recommends.
It is a natural outcome after the Rally For Rivers (RFR). The first few steps are taken already and promising inroads are made, despite rest of the world coming to a standstill.
- In the last two years, over 125000 farmers have moved to the Agroforestry model, planting over 2.1 crore saplings in the Cauvery river basin, in their own lands, thereby also contributing to enhancing the groundwater levels in the Cauvery basin
- Looked at these stats, 2.1 crore saplings planted and 2.5 crore saplings being raised right now, independent of the context of Sadhguru spearheading the movement, it is a fantastic achievement in itself and would have been celebrated in any country.
But in India, the leftists who claim to be all for the environment suddenly turn blind and deaf to such achievements. Not one of them has or will appreciate because most of them are just agenda & hate-driven than having any concern for fellow human beings or for the environment.
So, is Cauvery calling over? Far from it!
When it started, the movement targeted to have 242 crore trees planted in the Cauvery basin. Whether anyone stands with them or not, the Cauvery Calling team is going to continue hacking at that goal and keep making progress.
#3: Now he is going on a joy ride claiming to save soil
If you are also done laughing, know that the longest motorbike journey ever taken was by Emillio Scotto of Argentina for 735,000 kms over 10 years. That is approx. 73500 kms every year. And that folks was a joy ride.
Emillio had no purpose other than just going around the world. And he took it up when he was <30 years of age.
Sadhguru is taking it up when he is 65 and it is for raising awareness among world governments about soil health is & what policy changes they can bring about.
At his age, 70% of people cannot even walk without crutches, let alone ride a motorbike and lead such an active life.
And the #SaveSoil cause is what scientists have been saying for a while now but world hasn't heeded to them.
Anybody who has a little bit of sense can do their own research and find out that the situation of soil is indeed grim but all hope is not lost if we humans act quickly.
If you think the man is doing it as a publicity stunt, he does not have to. He is wildly popular across the world as one of the foremost authorities of Yoga and is invited to represent Indian spirituality at various global platforms umpteen times every year.
And of course, Sadhguru and the people who have stood up for these causes, whether it is the Cauvery Calling movement or the Save Soil movement, are not going to be cowed down by silly mockery.
And they will work so that the same people who mock them are also benefited.

Here is an attempt to bust the lies and half-truths in that article.
These are a few key points from the article that I thought are important to address upfront.
(1) Onus is on people to pressure governments (2) Can contribute only if they are tied to institutional arrangements (3) Ends up weakening India’s environmental regulatory framework
(4) The movement is a “dangerous distraction” from the climate-saving work being done by grassroots activists
Some of these sound serious. But first, let us ask ourselves some questions and if the answer to any of them is a YES, then there is at least a basic premise for panic.
@NityJayaraman Dear Mr Jayaraman, some of your allegations about Isha Foundation seem completely baseless.
Let's talk first of Noyyal that you have alleged.
Isha Foundation's buildings are a few Kilometres far from the river bed.
@NityJayaraman <1% of Noyyal river basin is near a forest area and in that <0.0001% is flowing through lands near the Isha Yoga Center.
The argument that many institutions near Velliangiri hills are causing problems for Noyyal river water is not valid and not proven through any studies.
@NityJayaraman As for Isha's buildings being in catchment area, the whole of Kongu belt is actually Noyyal catchment area. By your argument, nobody can live in any of these places.
There is a single small stream flowing through the lands & is left unobstructed. Even High school science students know that 100s of acres of forest & tree cover are required to create a single water stream. Several such water streams form a tributary, many of which form a river.
<1% of Noyyal river basin is near a forest area and in that <0.0001% is flowing through lands near the Isha Yoga Center.
The argument that many institutions near Velliangiri hills are causing problems for Noyyal river water does not make any sense.
The source of hatred towards Sadhguru protected on SM by a certain section of Hindu Traditionalists seems to be based on him successfully galvanizing massive public support to #FreeHinduTemples!
No wonder the British were able to divide and rule us so easily in the past 🤦♂️
Did Sadhguru ever say he is the one to start a movement like this? NO
Did pioneers of the movement to legally & constitutionally free Hindu temples, like @trramesh or @jsaideepak say so? NO
Did anyone get this kind of public support before or did anyone prevent them? Perhaps No
Did Sadhguru or his team ever publish anything like them being the only custodians of temple freedom movement? NO
Did many Dharmic gurus from across the country support this endeavour? YES
Then why is so much angst & acrid behaviour towards Sadhguru from some sections alone?
Mr Karti should clarify how letting go of government control will lead to exclusion of marginalised communities. Are you aware that there is something called the "Temple Entry Authorisation Act" of 1947 that specifically prevents discrimination of Hindus from entering temples.
By the way, what measures do you have today to prevent any such discrimination happening in Christianity? At least, there is a legal framework available for Hindus. And before lecturing about no such thing in Christianity, first check about the troubles faced by Dalit Christians.
More importantly, did he ever ask the temples be given to him? Why are you spreading such false ideas? If you have any proof for that, please publish it.
For someone who is so concerned about our temples, what have you got to say about their pathetic state currently?
BS is all in Vaibhav's mind it appears, misinterpreting Raas as sexual, Lover as sexual and Gopi's devotion to Krishna as sexual. Well, a mind full of such filth can only spew more of that!
There are so many ridiculous points that I was flabbergasted where to even start.
As I started going through his thread, there are misinterpretations after misinterpretations and deliberate misrepresentation in some cases.
This n00b thinks he can identify a Dharmacharya because "they would know Sanskrit and will be from a tradition".
Somebody please ask him how that traditional paths started in the first place and such illogical reasoning was why even Adi Shankara was ridiculed by so many others in his own lifetime. People often worship gurus after they leave but not when they are alive 😏
