This is one of the major issues Russia is running into. They are using heavily mechanized formations to try and break through largely infantry based Ukrainian forces.

Unfortunately for the Russians, the Ukrainians have a metric crap ton of ATGMs.
ATGMs that were primarily designed for a theoretical war in Europe back in the 80s, giving NATO infantry the ability to fight a major Russian mechanized assault.
Also for conversion purposes, 1 metric crap ton= 1.10231 US crap tons.

The only saving grace is that I really haven't seen any Russian forces with protective gear.

Which granted, is a minor consolation at the moment based on their language.
My logic behind this is-

if they wanted to go in with this story they would have at least prepared, makes me think this is more something that they are making up on the fly.
Kind of a “throwing things at the wall to see what sticks”

In this video, basically every person has some sort of antitank weapon.

Panzerfaust 3
AT4
NLAW
RPG-7
I think there’s an RPG-30 in there as well
Oh and most of the people who aren’t carrying the launchers are carrying extra projectiles.

Russian forces continue to consolidate their positions, but haven’t made any major offensives in the past few days. Ukrainian forces around Chernihiv risk encirclement at the moment as the Russians move east of Kyiv.
I expect the forces west of Kyiv will try to cut the city off from resupply, but the Ukrainians are using this period to stock up on munitions, including a number of ATGMs.
Lol, didn’t realize that @billroggio started a thread a half hour before me, go read it.

I know there are going to be a lot of those SimpsonUSSRjoke.gifs being posted about this, but the Russian government is currently trying to rally the people against a common enemy in order to prevent general unrest.
It’s great when you can just point at McDonald’s and say “bad western company” instead of admitting the mess of a war you started is having some pretty bad consequences.
I will add-

This is going to backfire pretty badly in the public eye.
Not commenting on the viability. Just saying it looks bad.
IMO a lot of people in pretty high places hyped this up, congress, Ukraine, unnamed Polish govt officials, the EU.

People seem to get angry at me for not posting more Ukrainian losses, but I am watching a lot of Russian channels, and they aren’t posting many.

In the last 36 hours, I have seen
6x Ukrainian POWs
1x destroyed BMP-1
2x captured Kozak-2
2x captured BTR-60
2x captured T-64
And the captured vehicles look to have been abandoned in a motor pool.
