Finally watched the most talked about movie right now #TheKashmirFiles by @vivekagnihotri and here is my “one word” review about different aspects of the movie, the actors and our experience !! Please bear with this #thread ..
The movie #TheKashmirFiles - a “Watershed”. I couldn’t think of a better word to express the anger this movie leaves one with. It’ll be unjust to call it stories, but these are facts & truths that couldn’t have been told in any better way & craftily than this. Let this be a start
Director @vivekagnihotri - “Courageous”. It truly takes courage to fight against all odds in an industry known for its biases, hypocrisies & sugar coating and then pick up “not a fairy tale” but facts and present those truths with an everlasting impact. He’s gutsy & genius.
@DarshanKumaar - “Us”. His portrayal of Krishna Pandit is that of us. Us who were unaware of truths & facts of the KP genocide for 32 yrs. His speech in the climax leaves one stunned and questioning oneself that how “I was brainwashed” with yrs of liberal propaganda to hide facts
@AnupamPKher - “Legend”. I don’t think there could have been a better person than him to “not act” or “portray” but “be” Shri Pushkar Nath. Nobody. He moves you even till his last breath in the movie, showing what many senior KPs go thru until their last breath. Goosebumps.
@bhashasumbli - “Soul”. If Anupam sir was the heart of the movie, she is the soul. She had the toughest job of them all. She lives through stories of BK Ganjoo, Girija Tikoo and many other KP in one character of Sharda Pandit. Take a bow ma’am !! She leaves the audiences numb.
#PallaviJoshi - “Villain”. You know who she’s portraying. Hate will be a mild word at the least for “that lady” but as for Pallavi ji, there couldn’t be anyone better to act with those shades. She owns the act and truly tells u how “they” first own you and then brainwash you.
These finest actors portray the 4 “pillars of democracy” and show how them failed or rather, were made to fail in that vaccum of democracy & sanity during KP genocide of 1990.
#PrithvirajSarnaik - “remarkable”. His portrayal of Shiva Pandit is nothing short of remarkable and that as a child artist !! Kid you have a bright future and you leave us with an ever lasting image with that freezing & unforgettable eyes in the last scene of the movie.
#ChinmayMandlekar - “Slayer”. He imbibes the portrayal of Yasin Malik & Bitta Karate in one character of so well. But what he portraying is not worth even liking and appreciating. It hits you in the guts! He slayed the role as the antagonist Farooq Ahmed Dar.
#Audience - “Stunned”, “Speechless”, “Numb”, “Emotional” and I can write as many words but “one word” be too less to capture the emotions I went thru and saw everyone in the audience go thru. This movie leaves you with an impact that you’ll never forget in your life now.
#KashmiriPandits - “Sorry”. As a dialogue in the movie says “टूटे हुए लोग बोलते नहीं, उन्हें सुना जाता है!”. Sorry that we never heard you, sorry we just glossed over history of 19 Jan 1990 as exodus and not that of a genocide. Sorry you’re still refugees in your own land.
In the end, the movie leaves you with moist eyes and just a question to ask “why” .. why was this truth hidden from us ? There’s a dialogue in the movie that captures it very rightly “Fake News is not the problem but hiding truth is”. This man sums up on behalf of every audience.
Made numerous cartoons casting aspersions on the #COVID19 vaccines, but pounced on it (Apr 16, 2021) the moment saw the Covid Tsunami coming to the town. #VaccineNaysayer
