Gov DeWine says he has talked to people who are anti-abortion but were uncomfortable with Issue 1 (changing the constitution).
DeWine says the process of putting abortion under control of states needs to be done with respect for people on both sides of the abortion issue. He thinks Ohio will eventually end up with an abortion policy that most Ohioans will accept.

Finance Chair Matt Dolan says the Senate version of the budget funds the Fair School Funding Plan without guarantees that have been given but senate leaders say are not mandated in the plan itself. This will cause some school districts to potentially lose thousands of dollars.

This is the proposed language the board will consider. Note it still uses the word “elevating” in the headline. That word was heavily debated the last time the board wrote language Image
Attorney Don McTigue is taking issue with that new wording saying it is confusing and doesn't satisfy the court's concerns in its recent order that told the board to go back to the drawing board on this ballot language.

Ohio Gov Mike DeWine’s press conference on East Palestine railroad derailment. This is a folllowup to the incident on Tuesday, Feb 14, 2023.
DeWine said officials faced 2 bad options. One was to let car containing hazardous materials explode w/ schrapnel going out “close to a mile” The other option- controlled release. The leaders chose that option and called for residents to evacuate.
DeWine says this morning he spoke with Norfolk Southern rep who said the railroad would stay there “until everything was cleaned up.” DeWine said Pres Biden also called to offer help.
