The Government still claims that:

"Protecting the NHS is of the utmost importance to the Government. We are committed to ensuring the NHS continues to provide excellent care that is free at the point of need for generations to come."

The truth, of course, is very different.

As an increasing number of those who would rightly expect to be NHS patients are finding out to their cost.

A cost of between £8,000 and £15,000.

This is neither inevitable nor an accident. It is government policy.

How many ways does the government have to show us that it really does not care about the well-being of the UK population before we stop believing that they are “doing all we possibly can”?
(2/12)
It is not enough that they pour sewage into our rivers rather than dent water company profits. We don’t quite absorb it.

It is not enough that they make the vast majority of the population poorer, year after year after year. We don’t quite absorb it.

We are used to an NHS free at the point of use. But our Health Secretary thinks we should pay for our own families.

And the Health & Care Bill will let him get his way. That would be a disaster for all but the richest.

Luckily, it is not too late to act.

If we had an insurance system like the US, it would be ruinous for many people – in both health and wealth terms.

The government has a Health & Care Bill which would let Javid have his way with the NHS.

In the US, two-thirds of personal bankruptcies are caused by medical bills.

With charges like these, it is not surprising:

Blood test: $100-$300
Giving birth: $9,000-17,000
Breast cancer $15,000-300,000
Etc, etc
(2/6)

In the UK, few people could afford to fund a medical bill of £20,000.

Could you?
(3/6)

The Government’s Health and Care Bill is now in the House of Lords.

If we let it pass without amendment, this could be the UK, too.

But it is not too late. Please read to the end and write to your MP: we have made it easy for you.

The Government’s Health & Care Bill is now in the House of Lords.

If we allow it to pass without amendment, the impact on us all will be grave. But it is not too late to de-fang the Bill.

Please write to your MP: we have made it easy for you (see last Tweet).

The Bill would allow Ministers to migrate our healthcare system to something much more like the US, where you might find yourself having to pay:

Blood test: $100-$300
Giving birth: $9,000-17,000
Breast cancer $15,000-300,000
Etc, etc

The government denies all this. But not very plausibly as the article shows…

This thread looks at the rather dismal list of candidates to succeed Johnson.
(2/9)
Sunak seems to be the ‘favourite,’ but he would be worse than Johnson for several reasons.

First, he played a key role in making sure that our COVID response was among the most damaging – both to health and to the economy – in the world.

Not only did he invent the COVID-enabling ‘Eat out to Help Out’ scheme, he actively involved maverick scientists in order to delay taking action against COVID.
