Using "woke" as an insult is just one step removed from vilifying "Critical Race Theory".
Both are tactics from the Rump Confederacy trying to shut up black America as it talks about how their problems go beyond economic inequality, and are about racial inequality.

When they use "woke" as an insult, what they mean is that they are uncomfortable with your honesty and self-awareness.
If anyone says anything that is more progressive than you are, they are "too woke".
It's a lazy and circular escape from discussing actual uncomfortable truths about entrenched inequalities based on our birth. And just strengthens fascists who will eventually come for you too.

But when fascists eventually come for people who also casually throw around the word "woke", there will be no actual woke people left to speak up for them.
My problem is with that common usage itself not the intent.
Why continue using that word as an insult, when it was originally coined by Black America to convey genuine concern and awareness? Why not just say condescending, pretentious, instead of "woke"?
