Thread: Most archaeological papers will tell you that this so called "The Hohle Fels flute" is the oldest musical instrument - it was made from the wing bone of a griffon vulture 35,000 years ago... phys.org/news/2009-06-p…
When you ask: "But what about the Neanderthal flute from Divje babe cave in Slovenia? It was dated to 43100 ± 700 BP"... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divje_Bab…
When you then say: "It doesn't matter how the holes were made, this bone with holes could have been used as a flute by humans", you get no reply back...
You also get no reply to: "Is it possible that this accidental puncturing of bones by hyenas, could have lead to later deliberate puncturing of bones by humans?"...
You can make a sound blowing into a hollowed bone with no holes...But blow into a hollowed bone with holes punctured by a hyena, to produce a sound, and then accidentally press on one of the holes while blowing, and watch the (Palaeolithic) heads explode...
Is this how bone flute with holes was "invented"? Full article:
