3 things Leaders can do today to attract new talent.

Turnover is extremely all in all job market industries right now.

One thing we know from studies done is people are not leaving for money alone.

Sure money makes the change decision easier. It in reality most people do not like change.

So a little more money helps them justify the move.

But the number one reason is a lack of feeling valued by their employer and mostly their immediate supervisor.

Money has external value but a great leader creates intrinsic value.

When people leave a job most are taking a very similar job at their next employer.

You can make yourself more attractive to the beat talent by changing the way you lead, run ads and onboard new talent.

Get creative with the ads you run for new talent. Find ways to thank your current team publicly in the ads you are posting

That is if you are grateful for your team and I am sure you are. This builds value for your current employees

And demonstrates you will value your new talent as well.

Next create robust 12-week onboarding plan for new employees

Share this with them in the interview to show how they will be developed over time and not yelled at for not knowing

Give them the checklist on day one and then commit to them to lock arms and train them on every aspect of the checklist.

This helps new employees buy in to your leadership and your way versus guessing how to get it right

Finally meet with them weekly for the first 12 weeks and ask them if you have kept your promises made during the interview

If not fix that immediately the. Recommit to them that you are committed to being a great leader

Then meet with them monthly after the first 90 days to do a coaching/talent lock conversation or performance review with them

Keep them informed of their progress monthly versus only at annual scale time.
