If you added The Intercept to this list, it'd make the exact opposite point as the one @HeerJeet claims about "incentives." It pays by far the most for a "non-profit" news outlet. The Dem editor-in-chief, Betsy Reed, by herself makes more than $450k/year as they beg for donations
Pretending people have to move right to get rich in media is a joke. There's a long list of left-liberal media stars getting very rich with Soros and Omidyar-funded organizations, on YouTube and Twitch, let alone cable. The Intercept often leads the way.
Beyond all that: the highest-earning Substack writer, making in excess of $3 million/year, is a liberal history professor who churns out daily anti-Trump, pro-DNC agitprop. The second-highest is a group of #NeverTrump neoliberals/neocons doing the same. That's the "incentive".
By far the quickest and easiest way to get rich in politics and journalism over the last 6 years was to churn out anti-Trump/Russia hysteria. That's what generated many of the best-selling books, the Lincoln-Project-type wealth, Omidyar cash, Twitch/YouTube/Substack wealth, etc.
LOL. Never could have seen this coming. Are there any top Executive Branch operatives left who don't end up on the payroll of NBC or CNN? They're giving new meaning to "state TV". At least she's not a CIA or FBI agent.
In stark contrast to the Twitter experts eager to start WW3 by emotionally demanding that the US go to war with Russia due to horrifying yet context-and-evidence-free photos and videos posted by Ukrainian officials, the NYT commendably applies skepticism:
The calculus for the US entering the war in Ukraine against Russia as a direct belligerent -- rather than treating Ukraine as its proxy war -- has not and will not change.
Nothing is more dangerous than the world's two largest nuclear-armed powers in a direct war. Obama, 2016:
It's very alarming watching people who should know better see a few photo and video snippets posted by one of the governments fighting the war, then let their valid emotional revulsion lead them to proclaim it's time for WW3. Nobody is immune to social media's manipulations.
From the "Bernie Bro" narrative to the demonization of anti-establishment movements from Corbyn to Trump, the message is clear:
Corporate journalists are free to use their huge platforms to malign, expose and destroy anyone. Your duty: sit in respectful silence and never object.
All of this is designed to fortify a warped and inverted matrix of power and morality.
Somehow, the bullies have converted themselves into the bullied. Your deepest concern and compassion must be directed to the richest, most powerful and most privileged members of society.
On another occasion after Lorenz and various MSNBC journalists "targeted" me for criticism, I got these two very detailed, elaborate death threats from a sniper aimed at myself, my husband and my children. Read what happens when corporate journalists attack you:
I dread having to contemplate what kind of violent, bigoted threats and attacks I'm now going to get after MSNBC and @chucktodd ran a five minute segment showing a weeping Lorenz and trying to blame me and Tucker Carlson for random internet insults.
The NEW WATERGATE!! -- there's a 7-hour gap in Trump's WH phone records on January 6 -- trended for days and was declared by liberals outlets from CNN to Slate to be the worst crime yet. It was "broken" by CBS and the WashPost.
Bob Woodward spent 8 minutes hyping it on CNN. Slate called it "THE CLEAREST EVIDENCE YET OF TRUMP'S CRIMINAL INTENT." Every blue-check liberal journalist account you'd expect hyped it for days. Was on the cover of the Post, on top of Twitter for days, with millions believing it.
All the same Twitter-verified disinformation accounts that always push the DNC/media's fabrications did it here. It's impossible to gather them all in one sitting. Here are just a few examples:
Rumble just made a huge splash as its entry into Brazil, one of the planet's most-online countries: recruiting the left-wing favela-based commentator @ferrezoficial, along with the highly popular Rogan-esque @monark. Both will bring their Portuguese-language programs to Rumble.
Both Ferréz and Monark have complained bitterly about YouTube censorship. Ferréz had multiple videos demonitized for sensitive topics about problems in favelas. Monark was widely cancelled- fired - for saying the state shouldn't have the power to ban any parties, including Nazis.
Consistent with the US corporate media's tactic of smearing any platform that competes with them and, worse, which refuses to obey their censorship dictates, they created the lie that Rumble is a right-wing platform. It has many leftists, because its only value is free discourse.
The Florida Congressman may one day be indicted and convicted.
Either way, this episode highlights the abuses of trying a person through media leaks. Leaking FBI probes is unethical if not illegal because it convicts a person by mob justice with no process to defend themselves.
These vital journalistic and ethical principles clearly apply to Gaetz but not only to him.
In our 2019-20 investigative exposé in Brazil about prosecutorial abuse, a major dirty tactic we revealed was the selective use of leaks to destroy the reputations of their adversaries:
