@ChrisMasonBBC@BBCRadio4@BBCPolitics#bbcaq#bbcaa
Surely you must know Chris Mason, that the nub of the issue about sex and gender is the demand by @StonewallUK and their allies, for instant sex SELF-ID with no process, and no questions asked.
Providing the opportunity for ANY man for ANY reason to get immediate access to women's spaces. That's where sex really must not be superceded by gender.
Women can't identify out of our oppression as a sex class, and men cannot identify into our spaces.
It's happening already without any change in legislation, in courts, in prisons and in hospital wards.
The innocuous question about whether gender supercedes sex, allowed the panel to talk about it being right to allow those with gender dysphoria to live the life they wish...
...and to be treated with respect.
NO-ONE has a problem with that, but it totally misses the point, and it implies that those who challenge the sex SELF-ID demand must be 'anti-trans'.
We are very much anti abusive, violent and predatory men, and given the epidemic of...
...violence and sexual attack against women, we do very much need to protect the existing legal right to exclude men - ALL men - including trans identified men, from certain spaces.

A terrific event yesterday at @TheWord_UK in South Shields.
A belated launch of the book about Orwell's first wife "Eileen:The Making of George Orwell" with the author @sylviatopp as well as Richard Blair, Eileen and George's adopted son. uk.bookshop.org/books/eileen-t…
Presented by a representative of the @Orwell_Society and with Jarrow-born poet @tomkelly60, who read his poem about Eileen, You You You. (Framed by Richard and Sylvia's backs...)
The book tells a fascinating story, focussing on the impact their marriage had on George's writing.
Tom Kelly interviewd Richard Blair about his childhood recollections of his mother and father. He was only five years old when Eileen died. (Framed by Sylvia and her daughter)
Dear Daniel @DanielFooksArt I do quite agree with you about what Voltaire said, even though it was apparently mis-attributed - it was Beatrice Evelyn Hall that said it... (see @VoteEsther below)
Also I see you support David Millar and others who have been silenced for their views about the state of Israel and the rights of Palestinian people. And of their right to voice their opinions.
Kiri Tunks @kiritunks is a former joint President of NEU, and one of the founders of @Womans_Place_UK. She was 'uninvited' from speaking about sexism in Education at a @UKLabour Party branch.
@UKLabour@MarshadeCordova As well as omitting one of the 9 protected characteristics, Marsha de Cordova MP the shadow minister for WOMEN and Equalities, seems to have totally forgotten that the Labour Party manifesto of 2019 said
“Labour will put women at the heart of our government and programme” /1
@UKLabour@MarshadeCordova and that they would
"Ensure that the single-sex-based exemptions contained in the Equality Act 2010 are understood and fully enforced in service provision."
It's almost beyond belief that she should OMIT the protected characteristic of sex from an article about the EA 2010. /2
@UKLabour@MarshadeCordova Sadly the party didn't gain power, so they don't have the ability to implement the second part of that as regards enforcing the provisions in service provision.
But they do have to power to 'put women at the heart of their programme', and to 'promote understanding... /3
